Ex-army man, Sunil Kumar Thapa is a YouTuber.
Sunil was born and raised in Dehradun. He studied till tenth grade at a government school in Dehradun itself. Then he joined the Army.
Recollecting his childhood memories, Sunil says that he was born into a family with minimal means of survival. His grandfather and father both used to serve in the army and it also inspired him to join the army. When he was in the tenth grade, he applied for one of the vacancies in the army and got selected for it.
When asked about his role models, Sunil says that during his early years he used to get inspired by Sanjay Dutt, a Bollywood actor. Besides, the character of Major Shaitan Singh in the TV serial titled Param Vir Chakra would immensely inspire him in his youth years.
Sunil shares that while working for the army, he served in different places from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. He was also part of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force.
Sunil says that taking inspiration from her daughter, who would post her videos on YouTube, he too started uploading his videos on YouTube and also on Facebook. He was working for the Australian Embassy in Afghanistan when he first took to YouTubing. He runs a YouTube channel by the name of Foodie Sunil wherein he reviews different foods and dishes.
Talking about sacrifices he had to make in his life, Sunil says that working for the army entails cutting yourself off from your family and personal life. He says he served in the army for twenty-five years, and in that span, he could not mark his presence in most of his family functions and gatherings. However, he has no regrets whatsoever as he served the country, Sunil says.
His Life Mantra is to live and let others live.
Sunil says during his service in the army, whenever he would get free time, he would write letters to his family. And after his retirement from the army, he likes to do physical exercises and take a stroll outside in his spare time. Besides, he also likes to do gardening and YouTubing in his free time.
To the youth, Sunil advises them to be mindful of others whilst they are on the road with their vehicles. Besides, he advises them to take care of their safety and put on a helmet whilst riding on the road.
