Sunil Joshi is a Psychological Counselor at the Central Government School.
Sunil belongs to the small village of Mishroli, near Rajasthan. He completed his schooling with science as his subject, but then changed his stream and studied the arts during his graduation.
Recalling his childhood, Sunil says that he was a notorious kid. He recalls how he used to steal fruits from his neighborhood with his friends. As a kid, he always climbed a temple near his house, not by the stairs but by the pipeline that was behind the temple, as it was on a hill. He also once lit up a cave along with his friend near the temple and got caught by the pujari, for which his father thrashed him in front of the whole school, embarrassing him.
Sunil says that he started his career as a chemist. He completed his graduation in pharmacy in Bangalore. After graduation, he started running his own medical shop. As his father was an astrologer, he predicted Sunil’s future in the field of medicine, which he finally ended up getting into. He also predicted that Sunil would not be able to complete his higher studies, which he was determined to change. To change the fate predicted by his father, Sunil studied psychology after graduation and also successfully cracked an examination. After his selection, he had to shut down his medical shop. He worked in a medical institution where he helped people of all ages understand and eradicate their mental problems before finally becoming a child counselor.
Sunil thinks that, in his profession, it is important for a person to have a healthy state of mind before giving others advice. He says there have been numerous cases where motivational speakers and psychological counselors have given up when they faced problems themselves, which is not acceptable as they are the go-to for people to seek advice from.
When asked about his role models, Sunil considers PM Narendra Modi and Swami Vivekananda to be his role models in life. His interviews and pep talks are always motivating and inspiring for him.
Comparing both, Sunil believes education is nothing without experience in life. Education is just a base to make the experiences robust. He thinks if you keep working towards your target with sheer determination, you will surely succeed, as you’ll keep learning on your way to becoming perfect one day.
If he can go back in time, Sunil wants to relive his college days when he was in Bangalore.
Other than counseling, Sunil is enthusiastic about farming and agriculture. He has cultivated a lot of plants in and near his house, including Dutch roses in particular, that he wants to grow and sell professionally.
Sunil considers it very important to seek advice from friends and elders in life. He argues that in India, youngsters run behind government jobs, which they should not, but instead try to run more cultural and ancestral businesses like agriculture, as there is a huge margin of profit in it.
