Sulekha Dhenwal has been a teacher by profession at Stanvard Senior Secondary School for nine years now. She takes Maths, Hindi, Computer, GK and Moral Science as her subjects.
Sulkeha grew up admiring her teachers and used to imitate their teaching methods in her school days. Currently teaching in a private school, she wishes to become a government teacher. She is from Ajmer, Rajasthan.
Discussing COVID, Sulkeha shares that her daughter helped her create online videos to be sent to students before offline classes got resumed. However, she shares that there was not much clarity if students were understanding the concepts well in online mode, and the same dilemma was shared by the parents too.
For aspiring teachers, Sulkeha suggests that a good teacher is someone who is honest, possesses endurance and tolerance and should know how to tackle students of all ages well. According to her, a teacher should be quintessential and have that motherly love and dedication to finish all tasks and complete lessons in time. Sulekha shares that she makes her students feel comfortable before starting her class which is important to keep them focused.
Talking about leadership, Sulekha shares that a leader is born by birth but also feels that your situations and experiences also make you a leader.
She draws inspiration from her father-in-law, who is a heart patient but still continues to engage in relevant activities, keeping himself busy, and Sulekha wishes to inculcate the same values in her. She is equally inspired by her principal, who introduced her to the nitty-gritty of online sessions like logging in and admitting students, which she wasn’t aware of.
If Sulekha could time travel, she would like to revisit her 11th and 12th standards which she truly enjoyed and treasured.
She feels that experience plays a crucial role in giving an impetus to education and it is important to have both education and experience to excel in life.
