Sukhdev Dukiya is the owner of  The Family Marwadi Restaurant in Udaipur. Through his hardwork and hospitality, he has gained a good name in the restaurant business of Jodhpur and Udaipur.

Sukhdev Dukiya is basically from a village called Kharia Khangar in Jodhpur district, although currently he has been residing in Udaipur. Sukhdev has done his schooling from a boarding school- Gramodaya Shikshan Sansthan in Bilara. Then he completed his graduation from Jodhpur.

After completing his graduation, Sukhdev aspired to become a commercial pilot. So he started taking ground classes in Delhi and cleared the course, but unfortunately his dreams were shattered when he came to know that he is color blind and can not pursue this career. If Sukhdev ever gets an opportunity to visit his past and change it, he says that he would like to change his life and become a pilot.

Sukhdev then planned to go to Canada for further studies, so he first went to Chandigarh and did MBA from there. However, he could not go to Canada as well as he had to return to Jodhpur due to some family problems.

Now, Sukhdev planned to pursue a business line as he was not interested in doing a job. But with his father being in the army, he did not have a huge amount of capital to invest. Around that time, his cousin brother suggested that they could start a restaurant in partnership. So they started their restaurant on a very small level initially by renting a room.

From getting a single order on their first day to becoming the top restaurant in Jodhpur in terms of getting most online orders, they did all that in a time period of merely three months. Sukhdev’s priority has always been providing a mouth-watering taste and good quality of food. He also takes great care of customer service. Sukhdev says that in the initial days of his business he didn’t even go home and used to sleep in the kitchen. And that’s why his hard work paid and just before the lockdown they were getting over three hundred orders a day.

Then the pandemic struck and all their business effectively stopped. And after the lockdown was lifted, they had to start from zero. It was quite a difficult task and the pandemic was not over yet, so Sukhdev started an event management business, along with his restaurant business.

Recently Sukhdev has expanded his business to Udaipur. Here, mainly his business is of event management.

Sukhdev says that the success mantra in restaurant business is mainly taste and quality of food. He says that making mistakes is not unpardonable but communication with customers should be maintained regularly. He also advises that if you want to enter into the restaurant business you should invest a small amount at the start and gradually increase your investment in the business. Most importantly you will have to do a lot of hard work which means getting up early in the morning to buy vegetables and supplies and always be available for your staff even at midnight.

In his restaurant, Sukhdev says that their main focus is on North Indian dishes, although recently they have also included Chinese, Mexican and Italian dishes into their menu. His restaurant has also served guests from Mumbai and even from Australia and everyone was satisfied that they truly got the taste of what they were looking for.

Sukhdev is of the opinion that although education is very important in our lives, it is not everything and one can achieve success through experience also.

Sukhdev believes that from childhood onwards he has the quality to lead people towards a common goal and keep everyone together and thus he considers himself a born leader.

Sukhdev’s main motivation was to go out of his town and make a name for himself and this idea has always motivated him to do better everyday.
