Sudhir Kumar Verma was born and raised in Udaipur. He did his schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pratpanagr. He did his B.Sc. in Agriculture and M.Sc. from Rajasthan College of Agriculture in Udaipur.
Sudhir says that he studied both Mathematics and Biology along with Physics and Chemistry at high school. He says that in those days Engineering and Medicine were considered the best career options. He too appeared for PMT and PET both. However, he could not pass them. Since he had scored good marks in 12th-grade, he got admission to RCA, Udaipur. He worked really hard and topped his university examinations. And for that, he received the Gold medal and a Bhamashah Award.
Later he also did an M.Sc. in Plant Building Genetics to unlock better opportunities for himself. He received the Gold medal in his M.Sc. as well.
After completing his M.Sc, he prepared for the UPSC Civil Services Exam but could not pass it. Meanwhile, in 1991, he got the job of an Agriculture Officer from RPSC Ajmer. He joined the job and kept getting timely internal promotions within the department. Currently, he is working as Deputy Director of the Agriculture Department of Rajasthan.
Sudhir considers his father as his role model. He says that his father was an extremely hardworking person and he never saw him take a day off from work. Besides, his elder brother, who was also a meritorious student, always inspired him to do better in his career.
Sudhir laments the fact that instead of working for the government, had he chosen the job of an assistant professor after his M.Sc. then he would be in a much better position today.
In his free time, Sudhir likes to do gardening and spend time in nature. Besides, he is also a bird lover and has more than a hundred different birds at his home.
To students, Sudhir advises that they should complete their education with their heart in it. If they study diligently then it will help them in their profession too. Furthermore, he advises that in their profession they ought to take as many responsibilities as they can so that they can gain good experience and take on challenging things later in their career.
To people, Sudhir gives his life lessons: he says that it’s not necessary to know everything about everything. Besides, he says that don’t have many expectations from others and don’t think much if people neglect you.
