Belonging to a middle-class family, Sudhanshu has come a long way in social service and welfare with a view to being accountable towards donations and how they are spent.

Sudhanshu Sharma is the founder of charitism.com and has been working on this project since his graduation. He started it in 2019 with a very unique idea to promote transparency in spending by NGOs. He collected funds from donors and helped many NGOs do their social work.

Sudhanshu belongs to Alwar, Rajasthan, and did his schooling there itself. Then he shifted to Jaipur for his graduation in mechanical engineering from Amity University.

Sudhanshu says that in a few months, challenges appeared in his path of crowdfunding owing to people’s lack of trust in contributing to the idea of an NGO. So he worked more on increasing transparency to make sure that a donor gets to know about the utilization of their funds.

Soon, people started supporting, and for the past two years, Sudhanshu has been working rigorously towards COVID support and has been able to raise two crores of funds. He has been helping seven-eight NGOs, working on various issues, like helping homeless people, stray animals, families who lost their earning members during COVID, widows in Vrindavan, and touching on various other social issues adhering to the transparency guidelines.

Sharing his struggles, Sudhanshu says that he too encountered the same struggles in his initial phase that any entrepreneur would face to earn and sustain in the market. He worked hard to give his idea a shot by volunteering at some organisations and schools. While visiting a school, he noticed that children did not have school shoes, and he got touched by them. Arriving back, he raised funds, distributed shoes to those students, and even shared pictures of the cause to maintain transparency. And that is how charity.com got started.

Gradually, Sudhanshu started collaborating with organisations that were passionate about working with strict policies of transparency, accountability, and credibility towards the donors and their funds.

Sudhanshu believes that experience prevails over education for him, as one can be taught how to gain education, but experience comes only with exposure.

Sudhanshu considers himself to be a leader because he ably supervises his team of ten or more people by understanding them instead of being bossy and making things work in a better way.

Apart from work, Sudhanshu does yoga, sometimes workouts, and watches movies, podcasts, and YouTube videos. Also, he likes to read the writings of Vivekananda, Steve Jobs, and Richard Branson.

During the lockdown, Sudhanshu acted as a coordinator between the NGOs and donors and mostly worked from home. If given a chance, he would love to go back and relive his college life with his friends.

Sudhanshu follows a quote by Steve Jobs while making a decision: "If today were the last day of my life, would I wanna do the same thing what I am about to do today? "
