Overcoming his nasal health problems, Sudhanshu went ahead in life and made his career as a successful Sound Engineer and a Music Producer along with being an Engineer.

Popularly known as ‘Fankar’, Sudhanshu Gaur is a Singer, Song Writer, Live Performer, Music Producer and a Sound Engineer in Mumbai. He has been doing live shows for the last four years across the country but mostly in Mumbai as he lives there.

Sudhanshu started his journey as a Sound Engineer and a Music Producer. He is into Acoustic and Unplugged music, in which he performs solo or in a duo or a trio. He has worked with multiple production houses on a freelance basis as a Sound Engineer and a Music Producer for ad films, video projects, audio books, audio show productions and podcast productions.

Sudhanshu was born in Punjab but was brought up in New Delhi and had a normal childhood. Being active and interested in sports in his school days, he loved playing video games, Cricket, Badminton, Basketball, Table tennis and all other kinds of outdoor games. When he was  in 9th grade, he had to move to Baroda from Delhi because of his father’s transfer.  There, he could not make many friends due to which he got involved in music intently. He says that his inclination towards music was in a developing stage when a talent show started where new singers were given a platform to showcase their talent. From there, he got inspiration and a new direction in life. That’s when he thought of making his career in Music.

Sudhanshu, however, was not a good singer at that age. Also, he was born with a condition of Deviated Nasal Septum, due to which he used to have breathing difficulties. But because he wanted to sing, he used to learn different vocal techniques. He also did his engineering from Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology, Delhi.

Sudhanshu had a nasal surgery, after which he breathed through his nose for the first time. He realised that his breathing capacity had doubled and he could see its effect in his singing too. He started taking training from Anurag Mishra, an Indian classical music teacher. After six months of his training, he realised that he wanted to move towards commercial music rather than classical. Then he started learning from Pankaj Sharma, who mixes songs by combining Western and Indian Classical music. He also learned the art by himself with the help of the internet and got the basic knowledge and essence of music. He kept on learning music and learned to play guitar too. Gradually he started writing songs along with singing. Because his interest in music was increasing, he started doing music production as well. He also learned to play the keyboard online.

Sudhanshu shares that he got a campus placement in TCS and started his professional journey from there. He however, wanted to make his career in singing. He did a one-year Sound Recording and Design for Films course from Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. As soon as he did the projects there, he started getting good recognition. Just before the completion of his course there, YouTube held the Indian Music Competition, where all the independent musicians were invited for a workshop in Mumbai. He went there and his video got selected in Top Twenty. And from there, he just kept on going and growing in his field. Recently, one of his first singles ‘Dildara’ is going to be released soon.

Whoever wants to come into this field, Sudhanshu advises them to never leave your studies to pursue your dream. He says always continue your studies and never leave anything incomplete.  Don’t come into this field just thinking about fame and glamour. You will be able to survive in this field only if you love music and can dive deep into it. Apart from this, be honest with yourself and develop your own individuality to create your own identity in the long run.

Sudhanshu says that Covid time has been very difficult for everyone’s mental and physical health.

Sudhanshu’s favourite pastime is watching movies on Hotstar, Netflix and other OTT platforms. Apart from this, he loves to explore and travel to new places.
