Shubhadeep Nasker is a Cinematographer based in Kolkata. He has been working in the Bengali Film Industry for the last eight years.
Shubhadeep hails from Kolkata. He did all his school and college education from there itself.
Recalling his childhood, Shubhadeep says he had a fun-filled childhood. He shares that at the behest of his friend in school, he had thought of trying his hand in the film industry. They even made a short film during their school time which was a hit. Inspired by this, he stepped into this industry. Being fond of cameras and photography, he chose the cinematography field to make his career in.
Talking about his inspirations, Shubhadeep says that old films and old cinema, especially films by Satish Shah and Dhreeaj Kumar inspired him a lot to enter the field of filmmaking. He also follows Sir Roger Deakins and Emmanuel Lubezki for their great work in the field of cinematography.
Regarding his struggles, Shubhadeep says his first challenge in his professional journey was to convince his parents to take up this profession as a career option. Second, being an outsider, he had to face many challenges to establish his footing in the film industry.
When asked about his achievements, Shubhadeep says that he has done a lot of work for several big production houses in Kolkata at a very young age, which makes him proud.
Sharing his COVID experience, Shubhadeep says that in the past two years, the pandemic has brought a significant change in the lifestyle of the people and even many positive things have been witnessed. He adds that the pandemic has made everyone understand the value of living together and having a family.
According to Shubhadeep, both education and experience go hand in hand because education is the first step towards building a career. Further, he says that to go into any profession, basic education is a must to get a hold of that subject. After completing your education, you enter into the field and that’s when your experience game starts. Afterward, you go ahead in your career based on your experience.
If anyone wants to come into the film industry, Shubhadeep advises them that before becoming a cinematographer, you must become a filmmaker and be passionate about it. He tells them to enter this industry with basic knowledge and be focused on their work.
Advising the youth, Shubhadeep says that for becoming a photographer or filmmaker, you don’t need to purchase heavy expensive gadgets like a DSLR camera or something. You can start your career with any multimedia phone.
