Srishti Nadhani is a fashion and lifestyle blogger.
Srishti was born at her maternal place in Islampur, a city in West Bengal.
Recalling her childhood, Srishti says that the first eight years of her growing up were spent in the small town of Bhagalpur in Bihar. She studied at a convent school there. And then, along with her family, she moved to Kolkata. She says moving from a small city to a big city like Kolkata was definitely a huge shift for her, nonetheless, she enjoyed it. Besides, she says that she had been interested in art and craft from the beginning. Her parents never really forced her to study particular subjects. All in all, she had an ordinary but loving childhood, Srishti says.
Sharing about how she took to fashion and styling, Srishti says that she always had a knack for art and craft. But at school, she enjoyed crafts more and art was never her cup of tea as she never really liked to draw and sketch. And that’s the reason she decided to opt for the Commerce stream instead of pursuing Fashion Designing as the latter required one to sketch and draw.
However, Srishti says that she always had an understanding of how to put and pair clothes and fashion accessories together to create stunning outfits. After completing high school, she wanted to do something creative and hence enrolled herself in Bachelors in Communicative English at Loreto College in Kolkata itself. At college, she made sure that she participated in every competition be it debates, sports, or fashion, she says.
After completing her bachelors, Srishti wanted to do a course in fashion abroad. However, upon her parents’ suggestion, she decided to explore a short stint in fashion or something on a similar line in India itself. She went to Pune to pursue a bartending course. During the course, she happened to learn about a dual-city fashion course that would be offered part in Pune and part in London. She enrolled herself in the course and during the second term of the course which was in London, she got to experiment, explore and learn a lot about fashion, Srishti says.
After her stint in London and after completion of the course, Srishti came back to Pune in India. She then began working as an intern with a fashion label there and did it for a few months only to realize that she was not meant to work for anyone else. Then she moved back to Kolkata and started exploring what she could do with her life. After some exploration, she narrowed it down to writing blog posts with a partner whom she found on Linkedin. She named her blog “Storeuntold.” Later when her blog started getting traction, she converted it into an e-store to sell the products she would write about on her blog. Things picked up well initially and she also got a good response from people, but eventually, she had to shut it down as she was not able to keep it afloat even after persistent efforts. She then thought of pursuing her career as a fashion blogger only, Srishti says.
In 2019, Srishti founded a marketing company along with a co-founder which was running well but the COVID pandemic hit and she had to eventually shut it down too. Later, she got an opportunity to feature in a reality show named Myntra Fashion Superstar Season 2 that aired on MTV and OTT platforms. After the end of the show, she signed a contract with Myntra to create fashion content for them every month, Srishti says.
To aspiring fashion content creators, Srishti tells them that fashion content creation is a thrifty and legitimate career option if they’re passionate about it. However, she also cautions them about the competition and illegitimate practices prevalent in the industry and advises them to learn to deal with them. Besides, she advises them to attend as many events as possible to build their network of people. Furthermore, she advises them to learn the importance of saving money and keep upskilling themselves.
Talking about her achievements, Srishti says that being able to make a difference in others’ lives and instilling confidence in them via her content is an achievement for her and that is worth more than any award or nomination as she thinks.
When asked about her role models, Srishti says that her mother is her biggest inspiration. She says her mother always supported her in all her endeavors. Besides, Ashley Graham, a plus-size model is also an inspiration to her.
To the youth, Sristhi’s pieces of advice are manifold. She advises them that there’s no alternative to hard work. Besides, she advises them never to compare themselves with others or their lives with that of others as portrayed on social media which is often not a reality.
In her spare time, Srishti likes to work out in the gym. Besides, she also likes to go on short trips with her family and watch psychothriller content in her free time. Furthemore, she also likes to learn about stand-up comedy and plans to make her debut as a stand-up comic soon.
