A lecturer in music, Sourabh has been giving music training to the youth . He started learning to play music instruments from his father and then decided to pursue it further as a profession.

Sourabh Soni is a lecturer of Music at Anusuya Singhania Educational Academy in Jhalawar, Rajasthan.

Recalling his childhood, Sourabh says that he belongs to a small town called Dag in Jhalawar. He had enjoyed the musical environment at his home since childhood. His parents are blind. Despite his handicap, his father used to play the harmonium, dholak, tabla, and flute. He was raised in such a musical environment that he naturally developed an interest in music.

Speaking about his journey, Sourabh says that he started his music journey by learning to play the instruments from his father. He began practising harmonium, tabla, and dholak when he was five years old, and his father enrolled him at a Government Music School in 2010. He practised music from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily for three years. He completed the degree of Sangeet Visharad from Bhatkhande Vidyapeeth, Lucknow. Slowly and gradually, in the year 2011, he started teaching music, and now his students are performing at the state and national levels.

Sharing about his achievements, Sourabh says that he is listed in the India Book of Records as having played 61 musical instruments in the year 2022 and, on January 26, he was also registered in the Asia Book of Records. He was also named in the Golden Book of World Records for playing 67 musical instruments. He applied to the Limca Book of Records for recognizing him for playing 72 musical instruments. He has also been conferred with many awards, like the Hadoti Gaurav Samman, state awards, etc.

Sourabh shares that he did deep research on music and came to know that in the Gandharva Veda, it is written that with the help of Indian classical music, one can be able to make vibrations in glass, control the room temperature, solve the depression problem, and many more things. He is also practising it and is currently treating three depression patients.

When asked about his mistakes, Sourabh says that he didn’t make any in the field of music because he always followed the instructions of his teachers and tried to give his best. In terms of personal life, he didn’t achieve much in education due to his weak eyesight.

In his spare time, Sourabh likes to sing and play musical instruments.

Sourabh’s role model is his father, who always motivated him to follow his passion for music.

Sourabh’s life mantra is to keep practising to master anything in life.

Sourabh advises the young generation to pay more attention to learning Indian classical music and thinks they should be focused on spreading it worldwide.
