Sonali Singh was born and brought up in Udaipur. Her father used to work at a University in Udaipur and her childhood was spent on the university campus itself. Her mother was an artist herself excelling in fields like knitting, stitching, etc.
Sonali did her graduation in Home Science. Then she did her M.B.A. from Symbiosis University and M.Com. in Business Strategy. Sonali was also interested in sports and was a national-level Basketball player.
Sonali then got married to an Army Officer and her life completely changed. Every twenty months they would have to shift to a new place and Sonali could not pursue any stable career. She did B.Ed. and started teaching in schools but soon opted out because of a lack of interest.
Then she came to know about Resin Art and it clicked with her instantly. Resin art is a Chemical art in which different pigments and chemicals are mixed and spread on a surface to create abstract designs which take around a day to dry and then give a glass-like feel.
Fortunately, in Bangalore, she found a supplier for the raw materials but could not find a teacher to teach her this art. So, Sonali decided to learn everything herself. Sonali was into art and craft even before and used to work with some Event Management companies as well.
Sonali feels that anybody can pursue this as no prior knowledge is required to enter this field. It is an abstract art and hence does not require a specific skill like sketching.
Sonali shares that during the pandemic she kept working on grooming her art. Many of her orders were canceled as her clients were losing jobs and wanted their money back. Sonali also started doing Instagram Lives to display the process of Resin Art and garnered a lot of appreciation.
Sonali says that she never created a formal setup to turn this into a business. She never hires a permanent staff as well and only hires freelancers according to the projects she gets. She feels that going into the business aspect will take away the artist from her; she does not want that to happen.
Sonali does not have any particular idol in her life and always tries to compete with herself. She wants to be better in the future from the self she is today.
Sonali opines that Education and Experience both are important in life. She feels that they both are like a Pizza in which education is the base and Experience is the toppings and without both of them, the Pizza is incomplete.
