Dr. Somya Singh is a Psychologist and the Founder of Counseling For Well Being. She specializes in positive psychology and has an experience of eight years in the field. She also holds a PhD in Psychology.
Speaking about her profession, Dr. Somya shares that she encounters individuals grappling with various issues, entrusting her with their life's challenges. From stress, anxiety, and depression to relationship and bereavement concerns, even issues related to aging or expectant mothers, she addresses a wide spectrum of struggles, striving to provide assistance. She notes a surge in psychological issues post-pandemic, with clients seeking guidance towards a more fulfilling life.
Originally from Bhopal, Dr. Somya currently lives in Noida. Reflecting on her childhood, she recalls an enjoyable time full of playfulness and mischief. She feels destined for this field, having excelled in it despite initially knowing little about psychology, achieving top grades in her first semester and eventually pursuing postgraduate and PhD studies.
Acknowledging her mistakes, she regrets not taking her family's advice seriously during her teenage years, believing things might have been different if she had.
Regarding achievements, she says that while academic accolades like a gold medal in her academics are significant, she finds true fulfillment in resolving her clients' issues for the better.
Sharing about her role models, Dr. Somya says that she cites her psychology professor, Dr. Anupam Shukla, as her mentor and inspiration.
To find mental peace, she turns to conversations with her parents and in-laws, as well as spending time alone.
Her guiding mantra in life is "Only you can awaken yourself."
In her leisure time, she enjoys reading various genres of novels and books, traveling, and cycling.
