Sohan Soni is the founder and CEO of the IWT Group of Companies.
Sohan belongs to a town near Jaipur. He completed his engineering degree in 2007 and founded the IWT Group of Companies. He enjoys facing new challenges that crop up while working with each new client. His company deals with 1300 clients globally, which is comparatively higher than many of his competitors. Also, he has four private limited companies under his organization. Recently, his company has deployed its solutions in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Iran, etc., in the GCC. Moreover, due to the broad usability of his services, ranging from telecom software to banking applications, his company has a stronghold in the African market as well.
Sohan shares that Mobogage Private Limited is another of his companies that deals with cashless financial payments. Through this company, his main focus is on the overseas market. Since its formation in 2016, his company has run various forex transactions through Mobogage. Sohan believes in facing challenges, as they encourage him to deliver better solutions and applications. Since COVID struck the entire nation, the need for cashless transactions has increased. Thus, this venture was a success in such unfortunate times.
Sohan says that his IWT Group is tendering partners in Afghanistan with some Afghan companies. In the UAE, they are also tendering partners for Etisalat UAE. Moreover, they have a joint venture in Johannesburg, South Africa, with a leading marketing company that has a stronghold on government tenders. His company also works with countries such as South Africa, Ethiopia, and Nigeria, among others. Furthermore, his future prospects include opening sales offices in different corners of the world. By 2022, he plans to open offices in six different locations, with his own sales team operating in those locations. He expects to multiply his excellence and connect with more people.
In the social sphere, Sohan is a member of the Rotary Club. He has started his own new Rotary club, where he functions as secretary. Currently, he has fourteen different partner offices for his company, IWT Group. These offices use the name and portfolio of his company to connect with and work with clients.
When asked about his role models, Sohan says that his role model is his father, who taught him the importance of dedication, focus, and perseverance. Back in 2007, when he started his company, there was no government support for IT companies, unlike today. Thus, his father’s lessons of believing in oneself and aiming high helped him thrive and succeed. He lost his father in 2016 and since then feels his blessings and inspiration as his guiding light.
Talking about struggles, Sohan says that ups and downs are part of every business. In 2015, his company suffered a setback and lost quite a huge amount of money and good employees. He worked relentlessly and restructured his business to great heights. In the present, his company has a running capital for the next five years. He has invested in multiple companies, including in Kishangarh, Lucknow, and Delhi, among others. He likes to invest in companies with impactful ideas.
Sohan says that he is greatly motivated by Joho Technology’s founder, who believes that great IT solutions can come even from rural areas and not just from Silicon Valley. He relates this to his life, as he comes from a small town and has taken his journey from the grass-roots level. Therefore, he is a believer in combining talent with dedication for success.
Sohan says that he has no regrets and has only gained experience from his mistakes.
If Sohan gets a time machine, he’d like to go and make more mistakes so that he emerges as a much wiser being.
To the youth, Sohan advises having a set direction, a planned approach, and a consistent focus for achieving your dreams.
