Smruti Mehta was born and brought up in Mumbai. She is a Dietitian and Nutritionist and has been in this profession for the past nine years.
Smruti says that she was always a studious student in her childhood. She remembers that once when she fell sick at the age of around thirteen, her mother called a Nutritionist to look into her diet plan and that was the first time Smruti came to know about such a profession.
So, when the time came to choose a field after her Secondary examinations, Smruti decided to go in this field as she was not interested in Engineering or Medical. Her fondness for cooking and trying out new dishes was also a factor she decided to learn about food and its nutritional aspects.
She did her graduation from SNDT University, Mumbai. Then she pursued her Masters in Clinical Nutrition. She got several opportunities to train at hospitals like J.J. Hospital, Bombay Hospital, and others which greatly enhanced her practical knowledge.
After her Masters, she worked at the Bombay Hospital for ten months and then got married. After that, she decided to open her clinic in 2016. She is associated with many doctors and hospitals at the moment and they refer patients to her who need a Dietitian. She has had around 800 patients till now.
Smruti says that she is interested in the Nutrition aspects of the Pregnancy and Post-Pregnancy periods. She feels that if a child is given the right food from the very beginning, they will grow into a healthier adult.
Smruti feels that the pandemic created more awareness in people about Nutrition and Immunity. She also started online consultations about immunity enhancing foods and how to deal with Covid- pre and post phases.
Smruti says that she does not have any particular role model but learns from everyone around her. She tries to grasp the qualities of people around her and try to grow herself each day.
Smruti shares that giving birth to her child was a moment she could never forget and would like to relive it if given a chance to do so.
Smruti says that there are different leaders in our life. Some are in our professional sphere and some in our personal. She feels that a leader should try to improve their juniors and help them grow. She says that with her clients she always tries to put them in the Leadership role and tries to be just a consultant herself because this gives out better results.
In her free time, she likes to spend every moment with her family and friends as she is a very social person.
