An education professional, Smriti is bridging the knowledge and opportunity gaps by bringing together the education system's major stakeholders, parents, and teachers.

Smriti Singh Bhati is the Head of the School Connect program at Vijay Bhoomi University in Lucknow. She has established connections with more than 200 schools in this capacity over the past few years and has organised a number of events to involve parents, students, and educators at the university.

Smriti was born and raised in Bhilai, the steel city. Her family raised her in a liberal environment.

Describing her journey, Smriti says that she studied hotel management but struggled in interviews. She then switched to the discipline of microbiology, but found it uninteresting. She then chose the subjects she was most passionate about, which included sociology, literature, and economics.

Speaking of her mistakes, Smriti says that she believes her main mistake was failing to recognise the importance of communication as a student, which she did after starting her career. She believes her reluctance to study mathematics, which she later had to deal with when she prepared for her competitive exams, was the second mistake that she committed.

When asked about her accomplishments, Smriti says she considers mentoring numerous students and designing their career roadmaps as her proudest moments. Her efforts allowed the students to pursue their desired occupations.

When asked about her role models, Smriti says she looks up to her mother as her role model. She views her mother as an inspiration because she never let conventions stop her from developing into a progressive person with a very contemporary outlook.

Smriti's interests include travelling, cooking, trying different cuisines, and learning new art forms. She likes to read mythology books, particularly Greek and Indian ones.

When she is anxious or stressed, Smriti likes to write poems and express her emotions through them. Also, she spends time with her children, which helps her to relax and keeps her peaceful.

Smriti's mantra for life is: "Your mistakes and experiences are the best teachers you'll ever have. Therefore, learn from them and keep going."
