Smitha aspired to become a civil servant, but she could not become one. But she did engineering and joined the Airports Authority of India as a Manager.

Smitha Prakash is an Electronics Engineer. She is working as a Manager in the CNS department of the Airports Authority of India, Calicut. She looks after the communication, navigation and surveillance and security systems of aviation at the airport.

Smitha was born and brought up in Kollam in Kerala. She completed her school and college from there. She tried her hand in civil services. But after trying for two years, she couldn’t make it through. So, she did her B.Tech in Electronics. She joined the Airports Authority and was first posted in Mangalore. Later, she was transferred to Bangalore for a few years and is now posted in Calicut.

Smitha considers her mother, who was a high ranking official in the education department, as her role model for smoothly carrying out her work and personal life along with achieving several milestones in her professional career. She also draws inspiration from OV Vijayan, who is a famous author and novelist.

Smitha says that her COVID experience was terrible because her airport witnessed a COVID positive case quite early. That shook the entire management of the airport and all the efforts were made to prevent and contain the infection of the disease. She used to come to the office for some time after the lockdown was imposed. She was horribly surprised to see the silence there. Slowly she started getting used to it and tried to keep herself positive. At the same time, work pressure also started increasing as they had to comply with all the guidelines and follow the COVID protocol at the airport.

Smitha has always liked music. She is part of a music club at her airport and has been its secretary earlier.

In her spare time, Smitha enjoys reading, writing and being involved in music related activities.

If Smitha gets a chance to go back in time through a Time Machine, she would like to relive her college life and do some more things which she couldn’t do earlier.

Advising the youth, Smitha suggests that you should do what you like and what you enjoy doing. She says that you should choose your career according to your interest so that you do not have to regret it later. To have a satisfied and happy professional life, do what satisfies your intellectual needs.
