A Doctor turned Lawyer, Siddhartha Goswami pursued Law even after working in the medical field as he thought that with a Law degree he would be able to change the system for better.

Siddhartha is an Advocate at Calcutta High Court in Kolkata. He specializes in Medico- Legal Services and in matters under the purview of Civil Law.

Siddhartha was born and raised in Kolkata and attended the South Point School there. After completing his school education, he did a Diploma in Medicine followed by an MD in Medicine. Later he also did an MBA in Hospital Administration, LLB and LLM in Human Rights and Environment.

Siddhartha shares that he hailed from an affluent family. Growing up, his parents always encouraged him to pursue his interests. He was an academically bright student and would also do painting, drawing and play the guitar with vigor. However, his parents always stressed that he should do well in academics.

After completing his 10th-grade, he was in a dilemma whether to pursue his interest in Fine Arts or do something that society thinks highly of. He chose to pursue a Diploma in Medicine. He also did an MD in Medicine after completing the diploma.

Siddhartha shares that working in the hospital line, he realized that there was no optimization of medical services at hospitals. Therefore, to work on the administrative side and to bring about a change in the system, he pursued an MBA in Hospital Administration.

Later, Siddhartha worked in hospital administration and realized that there were so many irregularities and medical negligence regarding treating patients. Therefore, to know about the legalities of the issues and to change the system for the better, he did an LLB and then an LLM. Today, he is a renowned advocate based in Kolkata and has fought several legal-medical cases in different courts of the country.

Siddhartha considers his parents as his first and foremost Role Models. He says his mother always pushed him to study and his father taught him that it’s important to have money to survive. Besides, he also considers Arnold Schwarzenegger - an Austrian-American actor, film producer, and bodybuilder as his role model.

Talking about his achievements, Siddhartha thinks that he has many achievements in life. Among many, having been able to add numerous educational degrees and skills to his repertoire is his biggest achievement.

His Success Mantra is to Never Give Up.

Talking about struggles in life, Siddharta says that struggles are part of everyone’s life and he too had to face some. He says that he was born in an affluent family but later he saw hard times as well, as his father suffered some economic losses. However, later things got back to normal for his family. Besides, he also had to work hard to pay for his expenses when he went to pursue his MD in Medicine in Moscow. Later he also had to struggle a lot to find a good job when he moved back to India.

In his spare time, Siddhartha likes to hit the gym. He thinks that it’s paramount to have good health and if you have good health then everything else will automatically follow. Besides, he also does painting, writing, etc. in his free time.
