Shyam is a salon owner and stylist who came into this field after his secondary education itself. He struggled, worked in different salons, took a loan to open his own shop, and now is running a successful salon of his own.

Shyam Lal Sen is a hairdresser and owner of Manglam Hair Salon.

Shyam hails from Gudli village near Udaipur. He did his education till the 10th standard in his village and then came to Udaipur. Here, he worked in a few small salons and then in 1994 joined Prabhat Salon. He learned many things there and worked there till 2006.

Shyam then took a loan under the Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Yojana and opened his own salon with just two chairs in 2006. He was soon asked to vacate the place and he shifted to a new place and expanded his business to four chairs this time.

Talking about his struggles, Shyam says that he has also worked in an underground shop where water used to get collected. It was the toughest phase of his life.

Sharing his experience of the COVID-19 pandemic, Shyam says that, during those times, he had a good opportunity to spend time with his family. However, he also laments the loss of lives that took place during that time. He also had to face issues related to paying his rent and used to go to client’s homes to deliver his services.

When asked about his achievements, Shyam says that many seminars happen in his field and in one such seminar he won the Best Makeup Artist Award in 2010-11 and has also won Best Haircut Award in a different event.

Comparing education and experience, Shyam opines that if you take good education, experience will be gained inevitably.

Advising the youth, Shyam says that they should decide on a goal of their liking and work hard for it.

In his free time, Shyam loves spending time with his family, relaxing, and looking after his agriculture farms.
