Shyam Bhatia is the Director of Shyam’s Salon and Academy, based in Mumbai. He is a celebrity stylist and make-up artist. His expertise and specialization is in hair styling of different characters appearing in daily TV soaps.
Shyam hails from Pali district of Rajasthan but has been living in Mumbai for a long time now.
Recalling his childhood, Shyam says that he was not good at studies and due to the fear of failing in 10th std, he fled to Mumbai to his uncle, who was then a well-known hair stylist in Mumbai. After struggling there for around six months, he got a job in a medical company. But even then he could hardly make a living. Sometimes he used to work at his uncle’s salon on his holidays and that work tempted him. That’s when he decided to become a hairstylist. He quit his job and joined his uncle’s salon.
Talking about his role models, Shyam says that he considers his grandmother as his role model for her teaching that associating with the wise is a virtue. He also considers his uncle, Harish Bhatia as his Karma guru for reaching where he is today. In addition, he is a big follower of his religious guru, Pannalal Ji Dwar.
Describing his struggles, Shyam says that from a young age he faced many ups and downs in his life. In his journey of becoming a hairstylist, he realized that hairdressers don’t get as much importance and money as other professions get. So the biggest obstacle for him was to make his place in the film industry in order to earn money, name and fame in the field of hairstyling. He worked very hard for ten years and finally his endeavors paid off. On the basis of his work, he made his brand world famous. He also started going on foriegn trips to give training and educational seminars across the globe.
Whenever he is not working, Shyam tries to be more skilled in his field by watching various videos and keeps himself updated while making full utilization of technology.
Shyam urges everyone to try to be a strong link to your family and build such a strong bridge that the coming generation could easily travel on it.
