Shweta, who never thought of becoming a teacher, has now gained over sixteen years of experience in the education field.

Shweta Jain is an English teacher who has been working at Rockwoods High School for the past four years.

Recalling her childhood, Shweta says that she was born in a village, 70 kilometers away from Udaipur. She had to live in several places before finding her permanent residence in Udaipur. Shweta says that she never imagined being a teacher but landed up in this profession to financially support her family after marriage.

Shweta started her teaching journey by giving home tuitions. She later identified her passion for teaching and decided to pursue it as a profession. Her first teaching stop was BRJP Pardiwala English Medium School, where she used to teach first-grade students. After working there for a year, Shweta joined Upasana Lions School in Vapi, where she was given the responsibility to teach classes from 9th to 12th. This was when Shweta pursued her B.Ed. and later joined Laxmi International School.

Her life changed course when she switched from the Gujarat board to the CBSE. Shweta shares that her husband had to move abroad for some time, which marked a career break in her life. She later joined St. Mary’s School and worked there for a year. Thereafter, Shweta also worked at DPS and is presently working at Rockwoods.

Talking about her challenges, Shweta shares that losing her brother was the most difficult phase to accept and overcome in her life. On the professional front, Shweta says that speaking in English was a major struggle for her since she had studied in a Hindi-medium school. Then, Shweta did her MA in English, but it took her time to achieve fluency in the language. Teaching English to higher classes was another challenge she had to go through.

Sharing her COVID experience, Shweta says that it was a learning period for her as online teaching took a front seat. But she did feel disconnected with the students during that time owing to the lack of emotional bonding. Shweta adds that managing her home along with her job was a challenge that she faced during the pandemic.

Shweta is thankful to her husband, who supported her in her career journey by taking responsibility for their daughter.

When asked about her role models, Shweta says she draws inspiration from her mother, who struggled through life and emerged victorious.

If Shweta could travel back in time in a time machine, she would bring her brother back to life.

Shweta advises the youth to keep working hard and not to get swayed away by distractions. She adds that one should not equate happiness with materialistic things.

Her success mantra is to be happy and satisfied in life.
