Shweta Chauhan is a Baker and Cake Artist. It’s been three years since she has been working in this field. Prior to that she worked as a Lecturer for B.Sc, M.Sc and IT students. After that she also tried her hand in two different businesses and finally she turned out to be a Baker.
Shweta hails from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. She did her graduation from Aligarh Muslim University. She says that she never thought of becoming a Baker because she was never good at cooking and kitchen related stuff since her childhood. She was always away from the kitchen as she’s always been like a tomboy. She had been interested in doing artistic things like Drawing, Crafting, Gardening, etc.
Shweta tells that due to her husband’s business, she lived in many cities like Mumbai, Delhi etc. And so her jobs and professions kept changing too. After moving to Delhi, she joined her husband’s cafe business. Soon, she settled in Ahmedabad with her children to have a smooth life. There she had no job. But, she could not sit idle for a whole day. So she thought of learning cake making. She did a three-months certification course in Cake Baking. She got her first order from her daughter’s tuition teacher. Slowly her business grew through mouth publicity. Now she has acquired expertise in cake baking and delivers customized cakes from her bakery called ‘Cake Fancies by Shweta’ in Ahmedabad.
Shweta considers Kiran Bedi as her Role Model. She also considers Mary Kom as her inspiration for what she has done at her age after going through a lot in her life is next to impossible.
Talking about her struggles, Shweta says that along with taking care of the children, it was difficult for her to manage a full-time job in Mumbai. Also, she had a very hectic schedule as her college was far away and much of her time was wasted in traveling. Disturbed by this, she had to quit her Lecturer’s job. She had to face a lot of struggle getting new jobs every time she changed her city. When she thought of going into the Bakery line, even it was not a smooth ride for her initially.
Shweta advises the young generation to be honest with your profession. Further, she says that you can’t determine in advance what the future will unfold for you. So regardless of anything, go on doing your work with integrity while accepting the flaws.
