Shourya Gattani's preparation, hard work, and belief in himself led him to success in the hospitality industry. He advises others to be present, communicate well, and gain experience.

Shourya Gattani works as a trainee at Oriental Palace Resort in Udaipur.

Born in Udaipur, Shourya completed his studies at the SP Jain School of Global Management and graduated right before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Shourya recollects some fun childhood memories, including parties and night stays with cousins. One incident he recalls was getting into a fight with some Australians during his time in Sydney during management studies. As such, there were no struggles for him because he is just starting out, but he does mention that the hospitality sector was the hardest hit during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Shourya advises that one should have a good sense of presence, as it is essential for a career in the hospitality industry. In this profession, first impressions are important, so being presentable and able to communicate effectively are key skills.

During the lockdown, Shourya was able to learn a lot by spending time with his family.

Shourya reveals that singing is his favorite hobby. He likes Kishore Kumar's songs. Apart from that, he likes playing any sort of sport. Education is a kind of networking, he says.

According to Shourya, experience is the key to success, and formal education hardly matters as it does not help much in problem-solving. His mother is a role model for him, as she inspires him.

Upon being asked about his views on leadership, Shourya feels that a leader should be one who makes sure everyone progresses together and grows together. A leader should not have a bossy attitude towards his peers and should be able to communicate on a personal level. Leadership can be learned from learning and experience and is not an inborn ability, according to him.

Advising the younger generation, Shourya says one should work hard towards achieving whatever one wants in life. He says that one’s identity should be forged from one’s own hard work and one’s status or identity should not be dependent on other people’s identities.
