A classical dancer, Shivani has been performing and practicing Bharatanatyam from a very young age. She is now fulfilling her childhood dream by imparting training in the dance form to other dance aspirants.

Shivani Sopariwala Bhatt is a Bharatanatyam dancer and trainer. She has been learning and performing Bharatanatyam since she was six.

Recalling her childhood memories, Shivani says she had a normal childhood. Her parents put her in the field of Bharatanatyam dance very early. She was too young to understand whether she liked Bharatanatyam or not. But gradually, she started getting the feel of the art and became passionate about Bharatanatyam. When she was only eleven years old, she had her "Arangetram"  which is a formal celebration of the debut performance of a Bharatanatyam dancer. At that moment only, she decided to become a dance teacher and follow in the footsteps of her guru, Neeta Ben Mehta. She has completed her "Alankar", the master's degree in Bharatanatyam dance, under Manali Natali.

Shivani says that initially, when she started her dance class, there were very few students. Gradually the number increased but just as when the student admissions were at their peak, the COVID period hit. Everything was closed, but it is said that even if something bad happens, there is something good hidden behind it. Driven by the lockdowns, she started giving online training too, and since then, she has taken both online and offline classes. Now, she has students from London and many other countries.

Shivani believes she is blessed by God which is why she became an artist in this life. She says Baharatanatyam is not just a dance, it's like a spiritual practice.

Shivani says, to check her teaching skills, she first worked at a school as a teacher. She learned how to handle the students. Shivani gives credit to her guru, Manali who helped her in starting her dance school and made her understand the intricacies of the same.

Speaking about her mistakes, Shivani says that, as per the wishes of her family, she completed a Bachelor's of Business Administration. But she thinks that because she was already determined to pursue her career in the field of dance, she should have done her graduation in the same field. Although, now that she has achieved her goals, she has no regrets about her education,

Shivani advises the youth that they should convert their interests into their profession if they are passionate and determined about their goals.

When asked about her achievements, Shivani says her proudest achievement was when she performed for three hours during her "Arangetram" when she was only eleven years old. She has performed on many reputed platforms, and she even choreographed a Bharatanatyam dance duet when she was only sixteen years old.

Shivani says she considers her mother and her mentor and guru, Manali, as her role models when asked about her role models.

Whenever she feels stressed and low, Shivani likes to listen to music and practice her dance. She enjoys the sound of "Ghunghroos" and feels like she's on cloud nine listening to their chime.

Shivani's life mantra is "Never give up, no matter how big the trouble may be. Every problem has a solution, just keep working on yourself."
