After traveling to many cities and experiencing various cultures across the country, Shiva got the urge to do something for the human race and so she got associated with NGOs. She also runs her restaurant in Bangalore.

Shiva Sharma is an entrepreneur in the hospitality sector. She has been running her restaurant in Bangalore for two years now. Apart from this, she is a Well-being and Happiness Habit Coach, Writer and Poet.

Shiva hails from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. Due to her father’s transferable job, she has lived in several cities. She has been living in Bangalore for the past eleven years.

Recalling her childhood, Shiva says that she had a disturbed childhood because of having many health issues as she used to fall sick frequently. The doctors advised her to remain on bed rest for a long time and lead her life on medications. This made her mentally and physically incapacitated and she sank into depression. But, eventually, she decided to take the charge in her hands and proved the medical advice wrong by her strong determination.

Shiva started her professional journey with an NGO in the development sector. She says that living with people of different cultures since childhood made her realize to do something for the community. Being obsessed with improving the lives of people and doing something for the human race led her towards becoming a well-being coach over a period of years.

When asked about her struggles, Shiva says that there were many ups and downs in her life. To start with, she says that she never had childhood friends as she never lived in a city for more than two-three years. Secondly, being a single child she always missed having siblings and felt lonely sometimes. Apart from this, many times she felt unwelcomed because of her outspoken and independent nature. In addition, she also suffered from post-partum depression and post-traumatic stress disorder after becoming a mother. It was quite a struggle for her to get out of it so she enrolled herself into a belly dancing program to channelize her anxiety. Along with this, she also started a podcast channel in the name’ Zaruri Baat’, where she talks about postpartum depression.

Talking about her achievements, Shiva says that once she had participated in a non-violence protest for environmental safety, for which she was imprisoned for eight hours. But she feels it proved to be a transformative achievement for her. Owing to this, she gained the confidence to stand up for her rights. The other achievement that she is proud of is that, at the age of twenty-four, she represented India at the international level in an environment conference . She says only twenty-two people were selected from across the world for the event and she was one of them. Besides, when she took her fitness journey seriously, it was the biggest achievement for her.

Speaking about her COVID experience, Shiva says that initially everything seemed fine. But gradually things started deteriorating, businesses began to stall, people started dying and she felt heartbroken as she was pregnant. During the second wave, she, her husband and her 9-month old were infected with this deadly disease. It took a long time for their recovery but by the grace of God, all survived.

Between education and experience, Shiva believes that experience matters a lot but till a certain point of time, you also need to take education in order to gain good experiences. At the same time, it is not necessary that getting degrees from big colleges and universities can make you achieve success. She says that you can achieve success on the strength of your experiences.

According to Shiva, leadership is connected to empowerment. She says she considers her teachers and mentors as good leaders for their best leadership qualities and for doing their jobs in a true and sincere way. For her, a leader might be a born leader but a leader can also be made out of one's life experiences who inspires others to achieve heights in life.

When free, Shiva likes to give most of her time to her child taking care of all her comforts. Besides, she is an avid reader and loves to travel, dance, do adventure sports and spend time with her husband. Sometimes she also enjoys painting and watching movies.

Shiva advises everyone that no matter what your gender is or where you come from, just put your hard work in whatever you are doing and always keep in mind that there is no shortcut to success.
