Shiva Rajoria is a music director and singer in Thane, Mumbai.
Shiva is doing vocal designing and vocal teaching. He hails from the small city of Chhindwara in MP. He has been residing in Mumbai for the last 25 years.
Recalling his childhood, Shiva says that he loved music from his childhood. Initially, he started doing music with his elder brother by playing the bongo and then learned to play different instruments like the congo, drum, tabla, and keyboard. He worked with various established singers and also did music direction for movies and TV. He says that he had done a thousand song compositions and 17 ghazals before COVID, and during the lockdown, he composed 500 ghazals and 16 songs. He is currently doing some ghazal albums with his better half.
Sharing about his journey, Shiva says that he initially started learning how to play the tabla from his guru and then took singing training from Shri Padmakar Rode. After coming to Mumbai, he used to play the keyboard only. He says the process of learning music is still ongoing, as he and his wife are studying classical music under Ritu Johari. He also teaches the students at his own academy, Sangitram Gurukul.
Shiva shares that to be a master, ghazals have to be learned and felt. He used to learn and sing ghazals by attending the ghazal mehfils.
Regretting his mistakes, Shiva feels that he started learning music too late.
Advising aspirants to the field of music, Shiva says that to learn music, it is important to devote adequate time, practice, and get regular training under the guidance of a guru.
When free, Shiva likes to spend time with his family.
Talking about his success mantra, Shiva says don’t change your ways once you start, follow your path, and achieve success. He believes that you should concentrate on a single task and do it with passion and hard work.
Shiva advises learning Urdu and Hindi properly for ghazal singing, and says learning classical music is also required to make a career in music.
