He has showcased his talent on three international and seven national platforms, creating over 260 Rangolis, including two world records: a 60 by 50-foot Rangoli of PM Narendra Modi and a 240-square-meter coffee painting. His dedication has earned him respect and recognition in the art community, making him a significant figure in Rangoli and painting.

Shiva Manikpuri is a Rangoli and painting artist from Raipur. He has been working in this field for the past ten years. He also conducts workshops and organizes exhibitions on the subject of Rangoli art by the name of Shivarang.

Manikpuri shares that he has been interested in painting and drawing since childhood. In 2012, he started making portraits of Rangoli. Earlier, he used to make idols of Hindu gods like Lord Ganesha and Shiva from clay. Gradually, he started doing realistic, hyper-realistic, and 3D Rangolis. He also started doing coffee painting last year.

Speaking about his achievements, Shiva Manikpuri’s achievements are impressive, showcasing his Rangoli talent on three international platforms and over seven national ones. Over the past decade, he has produced more than 260 Rangoli artworks in various locations, including three trips to Kathmandu, Nepal, where he recently created Rangoli at the Pashupatinath temple. His dedication and hard work have earned him great respect and recognition in the painting and Rangoli communities.

Talking about his journey, Manikpuri says that earlier in his childhood, his focus was only on cricket. But, after some time, he started making paintings and clay idols of animals and lords. Shiva has completed his education from Saraswati Shishu Mandir. He won many prizes in Rangoli competitions in college.

Earlier, his family members thought that Rangoli art was for girls and he should not see his future in this art. But Shiva won many competitions on the strength of his art, and gradually he started getting orders for commercial work too. He also got coverage in newspapers. That is how he started getting support from his family members.

Manikpuri made his first rangoli in a Jain temple. In 2021, he made a 60 by 50-foot portrait rangoli of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Gujarati School, Raipur, which was recognised as the world’s largest rangoli by the World Book of Records. Later, in 2022, he made a second world record by doing a 240-square-meter large coffee painting of his mother at the Krishna Public School, Raipur, which was recognised as the world’s largest coffee painting, breaking the previous record of 220 square meters. He completed that painting in 12 days.

When discussing his role models, Shiva Manikpuri expresses that he finds inspiration in everyone, even young children. He admires Dashrath Manjhi, known as the Mountain Man, for his resilience and determination. In cricket, he looks up to MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, having had the opportunity to meet both. Shiva met Dhoni at his home and presented a sketch to Kohli during his visit to Raipur. He dreams of creating a Rangoli of Kohli when he reaches his 50th century.

He shares an incident: when he was in the process of making the first big rangoli of PM Narendra Modi, he had to struggle a lot in making the rangoli; half of his work, which was completed in six days, was ruined due to the storm. The face of Modi Ji, which was almost 35 feet, he completed within a day. He did not give up and completed all the work of six days in one day.

All this was possible because of the inspiration he drew from Dashrath Manjhi. His Rangoli art, created using marble dust, differs from traditional Diwali Rangoli as it resembles a painting.

Shiva Manikpuri advises the youth to work hard and gain expertise in the field of art. He suggests attending classes and workshops to grasp the basics of the craft. According to him, this field offers great opportunities for artists, with a bright future in painting and Rangoli.

In his leisure time, Shiva Manikpuri enjoys playing cricket and badminton, listening to music, and staying updated with the news. He views his artistic process as meditative, which allows him to concentrate fully on his creations.

Shiva Manikpuri lives by the mantra of giving 100% to everything he undertakes, believing that true success comes from complete immersion in one's passions. He also encourages parents to support their children in pursuing their chosen career paths, as this can significantly enhance their chances of success.
