Col. Prof. Shiv Singh Sarangdevot aspired to join the army driven by a great sense of patriotism and nationalism since childhood, but he could not do so. He joined the education field instead and did great work. Later, he was conferred with the title of ‘colonel’ by the Defense Ministry of India for his contribution to the field of education.

Col. Prof. Shiv Singh Sarangdevot has been working as the Vice Chancellor of the JRN Rajasthan Vidyapeeth University in Udaipur since 2012. Before that, he worked as a Director in the Computer department of the same University. He started his career as a teacher in a school and today he has thirty-five years of experience in the field of education.

Prof. Singh belongs to a village in Vallabhnagar Tehsil of Udaipur district. He did his schooling from his village. After finishing his higher-secondary from Kurabad village, he did his graduation from BN College and PG from MLSU.

Prof. Singh shares that in 1986, he started working as a Lecturer at BN University. He was doing well and got promoted as a Director of the Computer Department. Due to his interest in education, he did MCA, M.Tech and PhD in Computer Science from HNGU North Gujarat University, Patan.  Then his new recruitment as a Professor in the Department of Computer Science took place. Thereafter, he progressed in his career and never looked back.

Talking about his achievements, Prof. Singh says he was awarded the title of Colonel by the Defense Ministry of India for doing exemplary work in the field of education. When he dressed in a uniform, it was a dream come true for him and the biggest achievement of his life.

Sharing his COVID experience, Prof. Singh says that due to the COVID pandemic, the entire human race came into a huge trouble as our survival was at stake. He says that when all the businesses were in complete lockdown, he used to visit the university, following all the guidelines issued by the government. He distributed rations, masks, sanitizers and even homeopathic medicines to one lakh people. It was a good experience for him.

Prof. Shiv Singh Sarangdevot advises the young teachers that no matter how high a position you reach in the hierarchy, the teacher inside you should always be alive.

Advising the youth, Prof. Singh says that in today’s era, there is a lot of scope in every field. Live life with a purpose by making small targets that you can achieve in a short span of time.
