Shital has accomplished several milestones in her makeup career, which began with compliments at an event. She runs her own cosmetic studio and academy in Mumbai and tries to help underprivileged women make their careers in this industry.

Shital Tejas Salunke is a Mumbai-based Makeup Artist. She runs her own makeup studio and academy called ‘Teena’s Makeup Studio & Academy’ in Malad.

Shital was raised in a small town and received all her school and college education there, as her mother was a teacher. Currently, she is living in Mumbai. She says she got rid of her stage fright in her childhood itself because her mother made her participate in every competition and she was groomed well.

Shital shares that she had never thought of making a career in the makeup field. The first time she got motivated to do this work was when people appreciated her for her makeup at an event and five years back, she set her foot in this industry. She began freelancing after doing a basic course in makeup and hairstyling. But in order to stand out from the crowd, she did an international course from a well-known Brazilian makeup artist, Rafael. She began her career as a beautician by fusing foreign methods with an Indian touch. She claims to have groomed many brides, grooms, and male models for various occasions.

Speaking about her role models, Shital says that she considers her mother as her role model because she has struggled a lot to make her identity as a teacher, and following her guidance, Shital also wishes to make the same progress in her field. She also considers her fashion designer friend and her husband as her role model for helping her reach this point and always supporting her.

Describing her struggles, Shital says grooming a bride involves dealing with several issues, which she manages peacefully to give the best results, which is a big task for her. She also faces difficulties in providing her services in destination weddings and pre-wedding shoots, but in order to offer her best, she has to manage everything patiently, which is no less than a struggle for her.

Talking about her achievements, Shital says her biggest accomplishment is seeing her students confidently take risks and produce top-notch results. Besides, she considers starting Teena’s makeup studio and salon to be her biggest triumph and a source of tremendous pleasure.

Regarding her mistakes, Shital says she wasted a lot of time on social media because she believed she would grow her customers by that, but that was a mistake. After investing a long time in social media, she realized that it was just a platform to showcase her work. She then corrected her mistake by working on the ground level and progressed afterwards.

In her spare time, Shital loves to dance, practice makeup, and travel. She also enjoys having green tea.

Shital advises all budding makeup artists to start their careers with less expensive brands of cosmetics rather than investing in expensive products. She advises them to develop their USP to increase their client base.
