As a Food Blogger, Shikha believes in providing value to her followers by amalgamating good quality food content,  presentation and styling, and recipe curation.

Shikha Shetty is famously known as the ‘Chief Foodie Officer’, a social media page she created in 2017. She has done an MBA in Marketing.

Since the beginning, Shikha had been inclined towards the Food Industry and Food space. She belongs to a family of hoteliers and food lovers which influenced her to map her food experiences.

Observing her interests, Shikha’s friends motivated her to start food blogging and create a page on social media. Shikha took their advice and started as a novice with a promise to be consistent. She balanced both her corporate and creative pursuits in the best way possible. At the same time, Shikha also found her love in Marketing and decided to pursue it as her career.

Talking about her childhood memories, Shikha says that she had been a food lover and remembers admiring her grandmother for  her presentation of food. She adds that food is not just about the taste, but its presentation as well.

Delving further into food blogging, Shikha says that Brand Collaboration is an aspect of food blogging where brands use the blogger’s page to leverage their brand. She adds that food bloggers have to be good stylists and work on their recipe curation. Shikha suggests aspiring food bloggers to be active on their blogs and be consistent.

Talking about the challenges she has faced, Shikha says that even a one minute video involves a lot of effort and backend work like the right angles, capturing in a natural light, sourcing ingredients and finally shooting the video. She adds that different tastes, likings and ingredients add to the challenges faced by a food blogger.

Talking about her achievements, Shikha says she loves it when her followers use her recipes and feel happy about it. She has a wide range of followers from a 2-year-old kid to an elderly person. Shikha has also been featured in great publications like TOI and Business Standard. She is one of the first food bloggers to have an interactive filter on Instagram, the first of its kind food filter. Shikha was also selected for the ‘Born on Instagram’ program wherein the Instagram team trained her for six months on creating innovative Instagram reels and improvising her content.  She also lost sixteen kilograms amid her busy schedule and no food control, which she considers as an achievement.

The year 2020 was a game changer for Shikha’s social media page since she rediscovered her passion and interest for food, being at home. From restaurant reviews, she shifted her focus to recipe building and cooking. She started understanding food as a language with the help of ingredients and started a ‘theme week’ focusing on the same type and delicacies of food.

Shikha’s Success Mantra lies in her consistency  and she does not leave her page unattended even for a single day. Her biggest inspiration is her family and her page has grown and evolved through the different thought processes of her family members.

Talking about Education and Experience, Shikha feels that both are equally important and it also depends on what career path one wishes to undertake. She adds that while a corporate job requires a degree, at the same time networking with your colleagues helps you build experience.

Talking about her dreams, Shikha says she wishes to make Chief Foodie Officer a kind of recipe book where people could find every dish possible. She sees herself sitting in a fancy studio and delivering the best of food innovations and cooking tips to her followers.

In her leisure time, Shikha likes to be with her grandparents and have food talks. She urges everyone to be unique and not copy somebody else’s content, but create your own identity and USP. Shikha also says that one should not be afraid of failures and do what they love to succeed in life.
