Shekhar Tak is the Owner of an Interior Design store named Wallcraft in Udaipur.
Shekhar was born and raised in Udaipur. He studied at St. Gregorios School. He did his BBM from Pune. He also did an Advanced Diploma in Architecture.
Shekhar says that after completing his Diploma in Architecture, he worked with a renowned architect based in Udaipur. Working there, he got to know about different requirements of people for the interior designing of their properties. Later, he thought of doing something of his own in Interior Designing. And that’s when he conceived Wallcraft. Initially, he started with Stone Cladding and later he also expanded his business to interior lighting.
Shekhar thinks that a balance between Education and Experience is necessary and one makes no sense without the other. He says that with education you gain fundamental knowledge of things and with experience you advance your understanding of things.
Talking about challenges that he faced when he started out, Shekhar says that in Interior Designing finding the right vendors is quite a challenge. Besides, to be able to convince people to buy quality products is also a challenge as in the market there are many cheaper substitutes to quality products.
If he could go back in time, Shekhar would want to relive his school and college days.
Shekhar thinks that every person that you meet in life, teaches you something. So for him it’s very hard to specify one person as his role model and inspiration.
Being able to establish his own business despite numerous challenges, is his biggest achievement, Shekhar says.
In his spare time, Shekhar likes to spend time with his friends.
Talking about the Covid pandemic, Shekhar says that during the pandemic he could spend enough time with his newborn baby and it was the best experience of his life. However, he faced some challenges on the financial front.
His Success Mantra is to just go with the flow without worrying about anything.
To aspiring entrepreneurs, Shekhar advises them to first understand the market dynamics of their field of interest and then start their business in that field.
