Sheetal Sharma runs a production house of eco-friendly and biodegradable products made from cow dung.
Sheetal belongs to Nathdwara, Rajasthan. Presently she is settled in Jaipur. She did her schooling from Shree Jee Public School. She holds a graduate degree in Interior Designing from Polytechnic College, Udaipur. She also did her MA in English Literature from MLSU. Soon she got married and got entangled in household chores. Everyone in the family asked her to do something or the other. But she could not decide what to do.
Then Sheetal contacted Rashtriya Kamdhenu Aayog, who advised her to make diyas from cow dung. She made them, distributed them to her close ones and got good feedback from them. On receiving praise, she proceeded further. Moving ahead, she made idols, pots, piggy banks, good luck items, incense sticks and several other products from cow dung. People liked her work and a large number of orders started coming in.
Recalling her childhood, Sheetal says her father used to be the chief guest in her school for almost every event. Her father made her prepare for her performances and he himself was the one to judge them. Sometimes, if she did not perform well, she used to get scolded for it. She truly cherishes those memories.
When asked about her role models, Sheetal says she considers her father as her role model for his unending struggles. Secondly, she takes inspiration from her husband because due to his frequent pushing, she has been able to establish her venture today.
Talking about her struggles, Sheetal says she was apprehensive about starting this work as she thought she would not be able to bear the stench of the cow dung. But when she used it in powder form, she was determined to proceed further with this work as it does not leave any odor. Another struggle that she faced was that not every person was ready to use anything made of cow dung. So it was a bit challenging for her to explain its benefits and convince them.
Sharing her experience of the COVID pandemic, Sheetal says her business suffered a lot due to the lockdown. But everyone in the house was safe as her husband is a doctor.
Between education and experience, Sheetal believes that education is undoubtedly important but values matter more than that. She adds that experience along with hard work is necessary to fulfill your dreams.
In her spare time, Sheetal loves spending time with her daughters and doing drawing, painting and doing art and craft work with them.
Advising everyone, Sheetal says if you have the passion to do something, you will definitely be able to do it. She says, leave laziness, get up, take a step ahead and move on.
