A dedicated primary teacher, Shashikala is teaching her students affectionately and tries to instill honesty in them.

Shashikala Paliwal is a primary teacher at Alok Senior Secondary School, Udaipur.

Shashikala holds degrees of B.A., B.Ed., and B.P.Ed.  She has been working with this school for the past twenty years. She treats her students as her own kids, and she believes this approach helps students learn more effectively.

When asked about her childhood, Shashikala says she used to walk to school when she was younger. She still believes every parent should not depend solely on tuition for their child's success and should always communicate with their child to make the bond stronger.

Speaking about her role models, Shashikala says she looks up to her parents as role models for her life. She says even though her mother could only pass the fifth grade, she paid close attention to her studies and always instilled in her the value of putting all her heart into learning. She sees her father as an inspiration as well, because he emphasized the importance of living honestly.

Shashikala describes her COVID experience as one in which everyone suffered, but children suffered the most. She believes that children were forced to spend two years of their lives within the four walls of their homes. Their teachers were instrumental in keeping them engaged throughout the entire study period, but it was difficult for them to focus while studying on a small screen. Since she was not tech-savvy, she claims it was also a new experience for her. However, she credits her technical director, who helped her and taught her everything about online classes.

If she could use a time machine to travel back in time, Shahsikala says she would go back to her childhood and spend more time with her mother.

In her free time, Shashikala enjoys Rajasthani folk dancing, as well as preparing traditional meals for her family.  She says when she practices meditation in her spare time, she feels relaxed.

Shashikala advises the youth not to be impatient and to listen to their elders, as they have already gone through things and can tell you what is best for your life. She further advises that the young people should complete all their work honestly.
