Shanta Prince is the state vice president of the Mahila Congress. She has made a name for herself among all the bureaucrats and businessmen in the city of lakes through her sweet nature and firm determination.

Shanta Prince was born and brought up in Himachal Pradesh. She did her schooling at her village in Himachal. She was taken to Delhi by her uncle for her higher studies, where she completed her diploma in computer application. When her uncle noticed that her personality was perfect for selection in the cabin crew of an airline, he encouraged her to join training for the same. Unfortunately, Shanta could not qualify for it because her height and weight didn’t match the specifications required. She got selected in the ground crew which she wasn’t interested in and she dropped the idea.

Shanta came to Delhi from her village with a dream that she would do something miraculous. She and her brother both were given a chance to study well and prove themselves but when both of them failed, their uncle urged them to go back home. When she went back, she convinced her father to give her a chance. Her father supported her and gave her the freedom to go back to Delhi and prove herself. Meanwhile in her stay in Delhi, she fell in love with Prince, who was her computer professor. Her relationship was very open and all the staff encouraged them both to get married. They both agreed and in two years, without the knowledge of her parents, they had a small family of three. They both used to work but Shanta had to quit her job after her baby was born and Prince lost his job due to some circumstances for a small period of time. Although Prince was so good at his work that he got a great opportunity when he was called for an interview in a five star hotel. That is when Prince met Shree Arvind Singh Ji Mewar, who was eager to meet him after he heard so much praise about him from the recruiters. Arvind Singh Ji offered him to work with him and shift to Udaipur along with Shanta and their newly born baby, and they both saw it as a good opportunity and came to Udaipur.

After shifting to Udaipur, Shanta was working as a guest relation executive at Shiv Niwas Palace. She had to quit her job after seven years when she gave birth to a baby girl and knew her responsibilities were piling up as a parent. She tried her hand in the insurance industry but could not persist as she was always a dominant personality and convincing someone for sales was something not her cup of tea. She also tried dealing in property but she was not much successful. One of her acquaintances advised her to try her luck in politics and although it was not her type, she took a chance. In 2012, one of her friends took her to Girija Vyas, former president of National Commission of Women of India, who after seeing Shanta’s biodata was so impressed, that she offered her the role of a secretary in the Mahila Congress. Today, after successfully climbing the ladder in politics, Shanta is the state vice president in the Mahila Congress. After working for eighteen years in a private job, Shanta and her husband now own a restaurant in Udaipur by the name City Club Restro Bar and dream of owning a five-star hotel very soon. Shanta says whatever she is today, she is because of her talent and abilities. She has made a name for herself in the city and even the CM knows her by her name.

She says to be successful in any field for a woman, it is important to have a strong support of a man. If she is married, her husband should be her support and if she is not, her father. She thinks being able to survive in society, having support helps a woman a lot.

Shanta considers herself to be an accidental leader. She says she was not skilled to be a leader and politics was not something she ever thought of, but she paved her way into it through her sheer determination and will power.

Shanta believes neither experience nor education can help you gain success in life, if you don’t have courage. She feels it is important to go through everything in life in order to learn it and someone who only reads a book can never do that. If you can stand firm in all the situations in life, you can be successful.

Recalling her childhood memories, Shanta says her father was a farmer and used to own a big land. She used to do all the household chores and being the oldest kid in the family, she was always scolded the most. She says she was average in studies but enjoyed participating in other activities like singing and dancing, which she follows even till date.

Shanta believes her whole life is based on accidents. Whatever she has acquired in life, she has got it through accidents.

Shanta feels that Covid has helped people learn about humanity. It helped people to spend time with their families and understand the values of relationships.
