As a kid, besides his studies, he would actively participate in co-curricular and extracurricular activities like debating, anchoring, hosting shows etc. He would play outdoor games like Cricket and Football. All in all, he cherishes his childhood and would want to relive it for sure if given a chance.
Shaleen says that his family emphasised equally on curricular and co-curricular activities when he was growing up. He believes that along with curricular activities, a kid should be encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities equally as it gives them a lot of confidence and exposes them to a lot of things which really helps in the future. Furthermore, he says that school education really matters in life. The basic Math, Social Studies and languages that we are taught in school help later in life.
Shaleen considers his father as his role model. He says that an Indian middle-class father is capable of doing things that even a Superman will not be able to do. An Indian middle-class father does a lot in his life from fulfilling the needs of his children to maintaining a family and lifestyle which is just unparalleled. Besides, he also considers his mother as his role model. At a time when women were mostly confined indoors, his mother traveled all alone to many places in Europe. She was an RJ and also did exceedingly well in the social sector. Shaleen says that he appreciates her mother’s will power and patience and wants to imbibe those qualities in him too.
Shaleen never says never to anything. He believes in trying things out and giving his best shot, irrespective of whether it works out or not. He says that if you try and fail then there will be no regrets in life and if you succeed then there will be nothing like success. He also tries to imbibe in himself as much good as he can from the books he learns.
Shaleen advises that whatever you do in life, you have to be honest with it. If you’re honest then it will show in your work too.Shaleen thinks that making mistakes is not a problem but being scared of making mistakes surely is. He too made some mistakes in his life. He says that during the initial years of his career, he always doubted himself and thus restricted himself from the opportunities that he would have gotten otherwise.
Shaleen says that the pandemic has hit every sector, but that doesn’t mean that we sit back and relax. Instead, we should leverage this free time to work on ourselves and hone our skill-sets.
Talking about struggles in his life, Shaleen says that struggles in his life taught him a lot, be it the value of money, value of time or the importance of putting in effort. During his initial years in the acting industry he would earn just enough to survive. He struggled a lot to find his place in Mumbai before he finally got a break and on his birthday he shot his first ever shoot. Now, he has completed twelve years in Mumbai and is growing continually as the acting industry grows.
During his free time, Shaleen likes to read books, write and watch a lot of media content relevant to his field. He also likes to talk and spend time with his friends to keep his mental health in check.
Shaleen is a keen traveler too. He claims to have visited most of the country. He also urges people to travel the country when the situation comes back to normal to explore the diversity and richness that our country holds.
To conclude, Shaleen advises that be with each other, stand for each other in every phase of life. Furthermore, he says that never stop dreaming in life, because if you dream then only you know what to achieve and accomplish in life.
