Shailendra Jha was born in Kanore, a small town around 75 kilometers from Udaipur. Once regarded as ‘Shiksha Nagari, he did all his schooling at Jawahar Vidhyapeeth Sr. Sec. School and then moved to Udaipur for his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from M. B. College of Science.
His interest in physics developed when he joined the NCC during his B.Sc. days and became a part of the Air Wing. Concepts of flying and physics intrigued him, and subsequently, he pursued his B.Ed. from Nimbark Teachers Training College, Udaipur. It was from there that his interest in teaching developed, and he has not looked back ever since.
Shailendra began his teaching career with Brainwave Academy and subsequently joined S.K. Jain Coaching Classes, where he worked for around 18 years. Target coaching classes were his next stop.
Talking about challenges, Shailendra mentions the language barrier that he had to face during his B.Sc. years as he came from a Hindi-medium background. However, nothing could stop him. He drew inspiration from different examples from his own village who have made it to big organizations like ISRO. He also credits his NCC days for helping him overcome these barriers. From getting a chance to participate in an attachment camp at Agra Air Force Station to interacting with different students, everything helped him refine his skills.
Sharing his COVID experiences, Shailendra says Corona posed many problems for him as a teacher. Talking about both modes of teaching, i.e., online and offline, he says the success of each depends on many factors. If a student is under good surveillance or has adequate self-control, then online classes can prove to be a great boon. However, offline classes are time-tested, and nothing can match the connection and interaction opportunities that they provide.
