Don’t aim for instant success because anything that comes easy does not last long. Aim for something big in life and strive to achieve that.

Shaikh Shabbir K. Mustafa is the proprietor of Royal Hero Motors and Royal Hyundai. He hails from Udaipur.
Shabbir shares that he was born into a modest family. He did not have many resources at his disposal while growing up and could not even complete his education. He lived in a community where everyone around him was affluent. His friends came from wealthy families. But that’s what always inspired him to work hard and be like them.
Sharing his journey, Shabbir says that after his basic education, he worked in Udaipur for some time. Later, he moved to Bahrain to earn and save money. After working there for 12 years, he came back to Udaipur to explore what he could do next. That’s when he stumbled upon an opportunity to apply for Hero Honda’s two-wheeler agency in Udaipur. He met the founder of the Hero Group, Mr. BML Munjal, and Mr. Munjal got impressed by how he grew from rags to riches and awarded him a dealership. Since then, Shabbir’s business has grown over the years, and he now owns five Hero showrooms in Udaipur. He also owns a Hyundai car showroom. Shabbir believes that giving the best service to your customers is the key to success in any business.
Shabbir’s advice to youngsters is to not try to achieve big success in a short span of time. Have patience and take small steps each day. When you start your career, you should start with a goal in mind as to where you see yourself in the future. “Without a goal, life is directionless”, says Shabbir.
Drawing a comparison between the two, Shabbir is of the opinion that education and experience are both important in life. Just having a fancy degree would not suffice. You have to work really hard, and after years of working, you gain experience, which helps you grow in your career.
Shabbir feels that during this pandemic, people have lost a lot. But they have learned a lot too. They have realized the importance of their families in their lives. This is going to have a good impact going forward.
Shabbir believes that one should give back to society as well. It should not be just about yourself. You should take some time out for the welfare of the people around you as well. Nothing comes free in this world; we have to sacrifice something to achieve something, he says.
Shabbir believes in living a healthy, balanced, and fulfilling life. He follows a daily routine. Even at the age of 71, he runs his business with the same vigor and enthusiasm as he did 35 years ago.
