A passionate Kathak artist, Seemrit Kaur Khosla, has been passionate about dance since childhood. She is a gold medalist in Kathak and has showcased her talent at the national level. Khosla’s passion for Kathak led her to enrol in Kathak masters and showcase her talent in youth festivals and competitions. She also appeared in reality shows and was on India's Top 12 in DID dance shows. She also created an online platform during the COVID-19 pandemic to promote classical and folk dance and music.

Seemrit Kaur Khosla, a Kathak artist, has loved dancing since childhood and completed her studies in dance. She explains that her mother, a singer, wanted her children to develop creative skills. Influenced by films and the dancing techniques of Madhuri Dixit and Saroj Khan, Seemrit fondly recalls watching a Bharatanatyam performance on Doordarshan, which sparked her passion for classical dance.

In terms of her accomplishments, Seemrit stated that she is still involved in classical dancing, which she considers to be an accomplishment. On the other side, during the COVID pandemic, she established an internet forum for promoting classical dance and allowing undiscovered artists to express their dance styles. Her 'Exploration of Indian Classical Dances' movement has expanded over the world. To promote classical and folk dance, as well as music, she arranged several dance competitions, music performances, and interviews with classical dance icons using this internet platform.

Khosla was born in Kuwait and later relocated to Punjab, India. She grew up in Sagarpur, a small village near Jalandhar, and fondly remembers her uncle, a Bhangra dancer. She learned to dance with him and competed in various dance contests. While she enjoys all forms of dance, she has a special fondness for classical dance.

Seemrit Kaur spent most of her youth in her hometown and liked spending time with her mother. There was little scope for dancing in her town, so when she moved to the city, she participated in dance contests and school activities. Her professors used to praise and encourage her to dance.

Seemrit Kaur admits that she was not particularly interested in studies until she learnt that she could further her education in dance. She then pursued her degree in Kathak and vocal. During her graduation, she learnt a lot about Kathak from her first teacher, Smt. Purva Puri, the daughter of Padmshri Shobha Kausar of the Jaipur Gharana. Her guru inspired and taught her a lot.

Later, her mother encouraged her to seek a master's degree in anything other than dancing. Because Seemrit was interested in computers, she pursued a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science.

However, fate had other plans for her in the field of Kathak. Noticing her passion, one of her students enrolled Seemrit in Kathak master classes. She learned from distinguished teachers such as Dr. Daisy Walia of the Jaipur Gharana and Dr. Dipanvita Singha Roy of the Lucknow Gharana. Seemrit showcased her talent in her college's youth festival and various contests, eventually competing at the national level and winning a gold medal.

During her undergraduate years, she competed in various reality programs on Punjabi Network such as MH1 and Zed Punjabi, where she made it to the final round. She also appeared in two seasons of Dance India Dance and was ranked among India's Top 12.

Regarding her role models, Seemrit Kaur says that she is inspired by Master Saroj Khan and the late Pandit Birju Maharaj. She is now following Pandit Divyang Vakil, whom she considers a role model, and undergoing instruction from him.

Seemrit views dance as a type of meditation. She meditates in her spare time to achieve mental serenity. She also enjoys listening to music to refresh herself.

Her life slogan is to never stop practicing and to constantly pursue your passion. She encourages everyone to believe in themselves and never lose motivation, no matter what.
