Be bold, be brave, and just follow your dreams.
Seema Chaturvedi is a Primary Teacher at Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls' School (MGD), Jaipur.
Seema was born and raised in Delhi. She attended Miranda House, Delhi University, where she completed her Bachelor’s in English (Hons).
Seema attributes her strong values to her father, a freedom fighter and journalist who always upheld his principles. His influence greatly impacted her upbringing.
After graduating, Seema got married and started teaching two years later. She took a four-year sabbatical after the birth of her daughter and returned to teaching once her daughter was older. She now teaches at MGD Girls School in Jaipur.
Reflecting on her professional journey, Seema recalls being very outspoken initially, which presented challenges. She describes herself as a non-materialistic person who values character over possessions. She believes teaching requires a more subservient personality to handle challenging tasks effectively.
In her profession, Seema sometimes finds herself needing to be diplomatic when dealing with parents. She regrets enrolling her daughter in the school where she teaches as there may be biases which could have been avoided.
Sharing her achievements, Seema says she finds fulfilment in her students acknowledging her efforts and in her daughter, a psychologist, appreciating her upbringing.
Regarding her role models, Seema looks up to her parents as role models and considers her school and college teachers as inspirations.
Her advice to aspiring teachers is to be nurturing like a mother to their students and treat all students equally without favouritism. She emphasises avoiding labelling children.
If given the chance to go back in time in a time machine, Seema would relive her teenage years, focusing more on education and delaying marriage, which happened at 21.
She finds inspiration in the quote, "Be the change you wish to see in the world." She emphasises the importance of practising what you preach.
In her spare time, Seema enjoys singing, listening to English songs, and reading philosophical books to learn from others’ experiences.
Seema encourages everyone to be bold and brave, to just follow their dreams, and to stay true to their hearts.
