Savita had been practicing yoga for more than 25 years but pursued it professionally only after her marriage. She believes yoga has given her a more positive outlook on the world and encourages others to practice yoga and experience the spiritualism and internal peace that come with it.

Savita Verma is a Yoga Therapist and Reiki healer at ‘Yog with Savita’. She is also a Dietician and Nutritionist. She has been in this field for more than 18 years.

Savita hails from Madhya Pradesh. She is currently residing in Ajmer.

Recalling her childhood, Savita says that up until seven years of age she lived with her parents and thereafter shifted to her grandmother’s house. She was the youngest of her seven siblings and grew up in a spiritual environment. She remembers going to the temple every evening with her sister.

Sharing about her journey, Savita says that she did her BSc in Biology. She got married after her graduation and moved to Udaipur with her husband. She gave several exams and interviews but could not qualify in any of them.

As she used to practice yoga, she decided to do a post-graduation in it from MLS University, Udaipur. Gradually, her interest grew in the field, and she took other courses in meditation, dieting, and nutrition as well. She also learned Reiki healing. She was posted to MLS University as a guest lecturer. She has also worked as a guest therapist at Hotel Lake Palace and Meera Girls College. Later, she moved to Jodhpur with her husband and is currently residing in Ajmer, where she continues to take yoga classes.

Savita shares that during the COVID lockdown, more people started taking online classes, and she conducted many webinars for the mental and physical health of school teachers and has been associated with thousands of schools.

Talking about her challenges, Savita says that although she was health conscious, she could not take proper care of herself because of her responsibilities after marriage. Later, she paid attention to her health issues and started doing yoga, which immensely helped her mental and physical health. She shares that yoga targets our subconscious mind and cancels out negative thoughts with the help of meditation. Yoga inculcates a positive mindset.

When asked about her role models, Savita says that when she was young, she saw an interview with Rekha, the actress, where she shared that yoga is the secret of her beauty. Listening to it, she got inspired and wanted to inculcate yoga in her routine, but it was only after her marriage that she got the chance to professionally pursue it. She feels elated to have a supportive husband and son. She has also learned a lot from her reiki guru and believes that every person has something to teach.

In her spare time, Savita likes to travel and read books.

Savita advises the youngsters to learn and practice yoga.
