Saurav Arya is on a mission to create solopreneurs and make people do their own business. Leaving an office job and starting his own lifestyle company was a tough call for Saurav, but he did bite the bullet and is now helping others to do the same.

Saurav Arya is the founder of work communities like WorkStays and terms himself as an Indian digital nomad.

Saurav says that he has been traveling for the past ten years, building lifestyle businesses and helping others to transition from a nine to five lifestyle to a digital nomadic lifestyle.

Saurav says that he was born and brought up in Patna. Talking about his childhood memories, he shares that living near the banks of Ganga and playing cricket with friends are some memories that have always stuck with him.

Saurav did his engineering from IIT, Kharagpur, and then got a job in operations in the steel industry. However, after doing an office job for five years, he took a gap of a year and started traveling. He traveled across India, South-East Asia, China, and East Africa.

Saurav shares that books like ‘Four Hour Work Week’ by Tim Ferris, and ‘The 100$ Startup’ by Chris Guillebeau have inspired him a lot to make travel and work synonyms of each other.  The central idea for his decision was to garner freedom of location, convenience, and finances.

Talking about his inspirations, Saurav says that Tim Ferris has been a big motivator for him. His book, ‘Tribes of Mentors’ which gathered intellectual brains from around the world, gives Saurav a motivation to create his own way of work in life.

Talking about his struggles, Saurav says that when he started his first lifestyle business which was a visual content design agency, the main hurdle was to do everything on his own without a team and nil experience in the field. Initiating a system, getting the right people to work, and building an automated working system was a tough job initially.

Talking about his favorite quote, Saurav says that it is, ‘The real betrayal is forgetting yourself.’

The advice he wants to give to everyone is that everything meaningful is a marathon. He feels that life is not chess but a game of Tetris where we have to figure out how to put the falling blocks in the right place.

In his free time, he likes to travel to new countries and till now he has visited 91 of them
