Transitioning from an engineering and MBA background, Saurabh founded Vaya Technologies, specializing in electronic security systems. Overcoming challenges, he has guided the company to serve thousands of clients, prioritizing good service and client satisfaction.

Saurabh did his engineering in Electronics & Communication, followed by an MBA from Symbiosis, Pune, in 2007. He got placed at Wipro but, due to the recession, was asked to join a year later. As the software job didn't pique his interest, he contemplated other ideas. Electronics was his passion, and he wanted to do something in that field only.

Saurabh’s uncle suggested that he should enter the field of electronic security systems. Thereafter, Saurabh developed his own CCTV system, and in 2007, Vaya Technologies was born.

Saurabh says that it has been a good journey so far. Initially, there were challenges, as he was totally new to business. He says that it took him four to five years to understand the nitty-gritty of business. But now he is doing well. His company has more than 3,000 clients and a team of twenty people. With his perseverance, he has excelled in this field.

Saurabh’s success mantra is to never be deterred by problems. He believes that business is all about solving problems, which are bound to come. Adding to it, Saurabh says that it is imperative to find a permanent solution to a problem so that the solution becomes assimilated into the system and you are ready to face the next problem.

Saurabh warns that there will always be diversions in business. All the time, new business ideas will come to mind, and your mind will be diverted towards them.

To all the business owners, Saurabh says that you will feel that you can do good in this or that field. But you must resist the temptation and focus on your ongoing business. You shall concentrate on the business line that you have undertaken and in which your expertise lies.

He shares that he has had just one setback in life when his mind shifted and he started another business, which did not go well.

Asked about sacrifices, Saurabh says that the biggest sacrifice in business is family time. As you are busy all the time with your business, you are unable to find much time for your family, especially in the initial years.

Talking about the core strengths of his business, Saurabh claims that good service and client satisfaction are his core strengths. He advises that to achieve long-term success, you will have to give your clients hundred percent dedicated service and try to achieve a high degree of client satisfaction.

When asked about his fun activities apart from business, he says that he is so passionate about electronics that he finds fun in his business only. However, he also likes music and plays musical instruments occasionally.

Saurabh says he draws inspiration from everyone. He watches videos of and about successful people. He says that he himself is his role model and strives to learn from his own mistakes.

Saurabh’s message for young entrepreneurs is that they should not do any business on the casual advice of others but go for the field in which they have expertise and confidence.

You must realize that you are going to be in the same line for 30–40 years. Once you enter a field, that becomes your life. Business is tough. You have to look after all the domains—sales, marketing, administration, accounts, staff management, etc. Business is a lifelong learning process, and you must be prepared for that. Once you enter a business line, you cannot turn back, says Saurabh.
