Saurabh Paliwal is the owner of the Archana Group of Companies that has been dealing in incense sticks for the last fifty-two years. He diversified his line of business five years back by entering into the FMCG industry and is dealing in a wide range of products. Along with that he has also set his foot into the real estate sector in which he has been working for the past three years.
Saurabh says, the main motto of Archana Group is to satisfy their clients and to generate more and more employment so as to help people stand on their feet. The group also focuses on women empowerment by providing them jobs.
Saurabh was born and brought up in Udaipur but his forefathers were originally from Nathdwara. He did his entire schooling from M.M.P.S. He used to be a quiet and disciplined child but after 10th std he started opening up and interacting with people that helped him groom his personality.
Saurabh is very fond of sports and Lawn Tennis is his favourite one. He also plays football, does horse riding and since five years he has found a new hobby to drive different types of ATVs. He also likes to do gardening besides spending time with his family.
From the very beginning, Saurabh had interest in the incense stick business as his forefathers started it a long time ago. He wanted to take it further on to an international platform. But he had to start his business career earlier than he had thought because his father got paralysed and Saurabh had to abandon the idea of going to Australia for further studies. Consequently, he did his M.B.A. by distance learning from Symbiosis, Pune.
Saurabh is a fan of perfumes and hence he does a lot of research and experiments on fragrances which helps him in his business. He has always been passionate about this industry and so he could open many verticals in this business with a constant effort to make it even bigger.
Saurabh believes that innovative thoughts of today’s generation in the digital world are of great importance now-a-days but at the same time, the experience of older people is important too. So he thinks that combining the two will be an icing on the cake.
Saurabh laments that the whole world has suffered a lot due to the Covid pandemic but he has learned a lesson from it to be with himself and his family members that he never did before. In terms of business, as it dealt with essential products, his factory could not be closed for more than fifteen days and he started his operations by complying with all the permissible guidelines and provisions.
Saurabh advises youngsters who want to start a startup to take care of three D’s in life - discipline, dedication and determination to run any business. Also, he says that they lack patience which leads them to give up even after coming close to their destination. Therefore, he suggests them to never give up and keep working hard with patience to move forward towards progress.
Saurabh’s role model is his father as he always motivates Saurabh to do his work wholeheartedly and dedicatedly to reach somewhere. He considers his Guruji a role model too because Saurabh was attracted to his personality. He feels that no matter how difficult times maybe you should always be confident and that is why Saurabh is highly inspired by him.
If Saurabh ever gets a chance to go back in his life, he would love to go back to his childhood because he was burdened with responsibilities at an early age due to which he missed on having fun and living his childhood to the best.
Talking about achievements, Saurabh thinks that being praised by people is not important. Also, he feels proud that he provides employment to more and more people which is a great achievement for him.
Failures had been in Saurabh’s life too but he learned a lot from them. He says he started some business when he was only nineteen years old and he failed in it due to lack of maturity and not being able to decide what is right. He feels that hasty decisions always turn out to be wrong and that’s what happened in his case.
