Satyam Srivastava is a Guitarist and Director at The Badmast Band.
Talking about his music journey, Satyam says that he comes from a family having a musical background. He says that his father was a tabla player and his mother was a singer.
Further adding to his story, Satyam says that while he was in class two, he was introduced to the Tabla which was the very first instrument of his journey. However, unable to develop much interest in tabla, he switched to the harmonium and then to the guitar. He says that after seeing guitars, he got quite attracted to the instrument, and from there his journey as a guitarist started.
After completing his graduation and learning various forms of music, Satyam went to the KM Conservatory, AR Rahman School of Music. From there he completed his audio engineering course and started working as a producer, says Satyam. He produced music for various shows like The Adventures of Shiva, Bajrangi, and Tic Tac Tales.
Satyam says that when COVID happened, he shifted back to his home town, Lucknow and started working with some of the local musicians. He says that one random day, the Keyboardist of The Badmast Band called him and offered him to do live shows. He immediately agreed to the offer as it was his dream and that is how he joined the band and his journey started.
When asked about his achievements, Satyam says that the biggest achievements are yet to be achieved. However, talking about other accomplishments, Satyam says that he did guitar arrangements for some series starring R. Madhavan. He also did many ads as a background music artist, and also all of his live shows are some of his accomplishments.
Talking about his role models, Satyam says that he has various role models and the very first being the guitarists John Petrucci, Paul Gilbert, and Guthrie Govan. Talking about his role models in the production field, he says Brian Taylor and Hans Zimmer influenced him a lot. Apart from this, he reads a lot of poetry to get inspired.
Regarding his mistakes, Satyam says that he trusts people immediately. However, he learned from his mistakes and rectified them and the journey is going smoothly and is fun, he says.
Sharing about his journey with his band, Satyam says that it has been a crazy journey till now. He says that they have done many live shows and further talks about the writings and compositions of his team.
To deal with stress, Satyam prefers to read poetry and philosophy. Also, he plays chess to get away from the stress.
To the youngsters, Satyam advises them to set a goal of their choice and work on it consistently until they reach success.
Advising the music aspirants, Satyam says that knowledge is power. Therefore, if anybody is entering the field of music, they need to make sure that they have enough knowledge about every aspect of this field. He further adds that music as a career choice is not preferred by society, so if you want to pursue it as a profession, you need to be ready to rebel.
