Satyaki Saha is a Pilates and Yoga Instructor in Kolkata. She was also a dance teacher for a long time.
Satyaki lives in Kolkata. She grew up in a hostel due to her father's frequent transferable job. After her schooling, during her college time, she switched to dancing. She never planned to become a dancer. It happened to her suddenly. She participated in a Salsa dance workshop in which she had to dance with her partner. After the workshop, the instructor of the workshop proposed every participant to join his dance academy and then her dance journey started.
Talking about her entry into the field of dance, Satyaki says that in her childhood, she used to observe her aunt who was a state-level athlete. She learned to do things on time and used to go with her when she was practicing. She was interested in physical activity and took part in sports too.
Satyaki shares that during her dance training her instructor had a slip disc. He requested Satyaki to help him in managing his dance classes and teach other students as she was a good dancer. She helped him for a couple of months and understood how to be a dance teacher.
Satyaki shares that in 2010, her first class started. She went on growing and got opportunities to go to different countries and present her dance. She learnt many other dance forms in those countries. In 2016, she had to shift to Pune but it was a big setback to her. In 2018, she again received huge success. But when Covid struck in 2020, she switched from being a dance instructor to working as a pilates and yoga instructor. She then became a zumba instructor in which she had huge earnings. She slowly stepped out of the dance field, says Satyaki.
Sharing about the struggles in her life, Satyaki says that accepting the situation and reality was very hard for her.
When asked about role models in her life, Satyaki says that Adolfo and her ex- partner Sania, her own teachers, are her role models. She learnt to keep personal problems aside and concentrate on work and how to associate business with dance from them, Satyaki says.
Sharing her Covid experience, Satyaki says that she continued to work when everything was stopped. She started her solo dance practice for 3-4 hours daily. She used to teach online. She did a lot of research work and learned about pilates and yoga.
Regarding mistakes in her life, Satyaki says that she used to think that dancing would be her field forever which was a mistake. She always thought that her partnership will always remain forever. But this was her mistake.
