Sarvesh Dubey is an Anchor based in Jaipur.
Sarvesh belongs to Etawah, UP. Twenty years back, he came to Jaipur on a trip with a relative and settled there. He used to participate in bhajan programs from a young age and showed great interest in playing instruments and singing too.
He did his primary education at Bal Vidya Niketan and then switched to Sanatan Dharm Inter College in his ninth standard to complete his education. His association with bhajan programs and stage performances further increased during his high schooling and he won several awards as well. He got married after completing his twelfth standard in 1998.
Sarvesh got a job in Jaipur and also called his wife and son there. Later he quit his job for a better one. He only saw success after that.
Talking about his anchoring journey, Sarvesh says that he had an extroverted personality since childhood, which he believes to be a vital trait of anchors. He thinks that spontaneity is also an effective quality of anchors. He started off as an anchor as there were very few people in this field, but he had to build up his interest in anchoring.
To build his interest, he began reading poetry and took up small programs in the beginning. Gradually, his skill as an anchor improved and he began getting recognition as an anchor. He says that although he also does bhajan programs, he is known as an anchor. He does his shows in Hindi, as he loves the language. He says that in his 20 years long journey, he has learned from and worked with several prominent artists of Rajasthan.
Speaking of the mistakes that he committed during his journey, Sarvesh says that in the initial years, he used to mock other artists on stage as a part of his act. Later, he realised that although the public loved it, it was not decent. So eventually he reflected on it and cut it out.
When asked about his role models and mentors, Sarvesh says that when he came to Jaipur, he looked for a mentor to begin his career as a bhajan artist for about two years. And once, he got to meet Vinod Soni, who was a well-known artist in the field. He met him hesitantly, but all his hesitation evaporated when Vinod made him comfortable and offered to perform on stage with him. From there his journey started.
He was not getting paid in the initial period and was advised by his wife against wasting his time on doing shows for free. However, he was determined and hopeful and he kept on with it. He says that it was only possible due to Vinod. Now, he wanted to enter into anchoring as well, so he began taking notes by watching comedy shows. He says that there was no particular mentor of his in his anchoring career.
Advising budding anchors, Sarvesh says that you should grab the attention of your audience and engage them into the show to create a good impression. He advises them to learn by observing other artists and taking notes. He further says that as an anchor, you should promote the event organiser as well. And finally when you rest your mic, you should end it with a shayari.
