Santoshi Sengupta is an Educator by profession who is driven by her passion and the people around her. She has gained experience of life, education, culture, and herself through solo travelling, reading, gaining education, involvement in other cultures, languages, and consistent research.

Santoshi is a Professor and Head of the Department of the School of Management at Graphic Era University in Bhimtal, Uttarakhand. She defines herself through the three P’s: Profession, Passion, and People. She says her profession as a teacher has shaped her personality all these years. She believes that the passion she has for delving into research questions, travelling, interacting, and collaborating has expanded the dimensions of her personality. Lastly, the people in her life including her family, friends, colleagues, students, and in-laws have nurtured and made her a strong and empowered woman.

Santoshi was born and raised in a joint Bengali family in Agra. She did her schooling and college in the city and imbibed values of simplicity, love, compassion, and service from her schools and college. After completing her Bachelors and Masters, Santoshi joined the JP Institute of Information technology in Noida as an Associate Lecturer..

After some time, Santoshi completed her PhD and got an opportunity to do her Post-Doctoral Research in Spain. While doing the Post-Doctoral Research in Spain, Santoshi was undergoing three major experiences. She was teaching international students from around the globe at the university. Simultaneously, she was conducting research with great researchers from the US, Europe, and South America, and travelling across Europe to get cultural enrichment.

After returning to India, she explored Solo Travelling and went to places including Morocco, Europe, the US, Mexico, and some other places with her husband. The travelling helped her enrich her lectures and her research. She also worked for Solo Women Travelling and researched finding a work-life balance for them. Thus, after spending sixteen whole years in Delhi, she and her husband decided to relocate to Bhimtal and give a nature-rich and simple life to their children.

Santoshi says she struggled the first two months in Spain when she missed home and became homesick. Later, through a Google search, she explored various solo travel and cultural activities groups in Barcelona and started mingling with people and got busy.

Covid was one of the best times for Santoshi. She, along with her family, shifted to Bhimtal just two days before the pandemic outburst in March 2020. Thus, her family was peacefully stuck in the small and beautiful village during the pandemic. She changed her job and started working at the Graphic Era University.

Santoshi advises all aspiring University level teachers to be creative in their teaching approach, research and create new knowledge, do a PhD from a good institute, and keep researching consistently.

Santoshi believes in the quote that says, “low minds discuss people, average minds discuss events, and great minds discuss ideas.” She encourages the youth to be a thinker and a doer. She believes in creating positive ripples around oneself and doing simple acts of kindness. She also advises the youth to indulge in creative things that give them happiness.

Santoshi got liberation from her travel experiences. Therefore, she encourages all women especially to be financially independent. Moreover, she advises everyone to be physically, emotionally, and financially stable.

Santoshi loves to spend her free time in academic and creative writing, reading, music, and dance.
