The true definition of success is to feel happy from within and love what you do. It’s never about getting recognition or fame.

Sanjeev Sharma is currently working as an executive chef and food and business manager at Hotel RAAS Devigarh, Udaipur. He has been working here for the past six years.
Sanjeev shares that he was born and brought up in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. He completed his schooling in Agra. Hailing from a small city, just like every young high school graduate, he too had the same options: either engineering or medicine to make a career in. But he always wanted to do something different. That’s when he came across a hotel management course. He appeared for the entrance exam and subsequently got admission to IHM, Bhopal, after which he landed a job at the Oberoi Group of Hotels.
Sanjeev says that when he started his professional career, he was very clear that he was here to learn as much as he could. He never really cared about money. He would work honestly and ethically. After working for the Oberoi Group of Hotels, Sanjeev switched to the JW Marriott Hotel in Mumbai. He also worked in London for four years.
Subsequently, Sanjeev came back to India and started working in Delhi for one of the leading hotels. In 2014, he joined the Hotel RAAS Devigarh in Udaipur. He was amazed by the beauty of the city and chose to stay here.
Sanjeev thinks that life is full of uncertainties. Sometimes, things don’t go the way we planned. But we should always remain balanced and focus on the bigger things in life.
Sanjeev draws inspiration from a lot of people who have done extraordinarily well in their fields. He says that we can always learn from such people and implement the lessons in our lives.
Drawing a comparison between the two, Sanjeev is of the opinion that education and experience both go hand in hand. Once you have completed your education, it’s your hard work and attitude that determine your career trajectory thereafter.
Reflecting on his childhood, Sanjeev recounts that he was the favorite of his parents. He was good at academics and would actively participate in extracurricular activities. He really made some good friends. He still maintains and nurtures those friendships.
Although Sanjeev loves his work and doesn’t feel like taking a break, he enjoys spending time with his kids and family. He also plays table tennis and snooker to recharge and start again with renewed energy.
