Sanjeev Kumar Agnihotri is a Radio Jockey at All India Radio . He also does theater and is a Production Director.
Sanjeev is from Lucknow. He did a Diploma in Theater from Bharatendu Natya Academy along with his graduation from Lucknow university.
Recalling his childhood, Sanjeev says that due to his father's transferable job, he spent his childhood at many places but spent most of his time in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh. He had an inclination towards public speaking since childhood and used to participate a lot in debate competitions in school. Reading newspapers voraciously was his hobby, which later proved to be very useful in his profession as a radio jockey and theater director.
Talking about his professional journey, Sanjeev says that after his graduation, he went to Delhi to pursue theater. He got a job in All India Radio.. He joined the National School of Drama and worked for many years there as the Assistant Coordinator in the Theater Education Wing.
He currently does many programs and workshops by associating with many Central and State Governing Agencies.
Sanjeev advises the youth who want to become radio jockeys that it is very important to update their vocabulary and pronunciation and their knowledge of current affairs. The life of a radio jockey is not easy, he has to keep studying, he has to read a lot of books and be constantly aware of the happenings in the country and the world.
Regarding his mistakes, Sanjeev says that when he came to Delhi to do theater he realized that a big city has its own problems and a small town has its own limitations. But when it came to following his passion, he is happy that he chose this field and got exposure in a place like Delhi.
Talking about his achievements, Sanjeev says that he had never thought that he would get the attention of people as an anchor. He takes immense pride and joy when people, bypassing the performers in an event, come to meet him, compliment him for his anchoring and his voice. Now people wait for his program on FM and want to hear his voice.
Another achievement of his was when his theater group was sent by the Government of India to the Middle East-Bahrain to present a dance drama program representing the Festivals of India on behalf of the country.
When asked about his role models, Sanjeev says that he considers his former mentor and former director of National School of Drama Late Shri Brij Mohan Shah as his role model. He says that Brij Mohan Shah inspired him to take up acting and taught him that what scares you will scare you more.
In his spare time, Sanjeev likes to play and watch cricket. Along with this, he likes to study different literature.
Sanjeev's life mantra is that if we do any work with dedication and honesty, then we definitely get success. Sometimes the result will be delayed but will definitely be received, analyze your mistakes and preparations with a cool mind and move forward by improving.
Sanjeev advises the youth to gather complete information about any field before making it their profession. Analyze yourself whether you have the ability to go into that field or not. Do not follow the trial and error method. Set a goal, enter that field with full preparation and keep moving forward with full effort.
