Sanjay was born and brought up in Sri Ganganagar. His father worked in the Rajasthan Police. Sanjay did his schooling at SGN Khalsa Senior Secondary School and has also done master degrees in Physical Education and Economics.

Sanjay has been teaching at JNV for the past sixteen years. His initial posting was in Rajgarh near Bhopal. After working there for two years, he was transferred to JNV, Mavli in Udaipur. Sanjay worked there for seven years and now is working at JNV, Chittorgarh.

Talking about his childhood, Sanjay says that he hails from a lower middle-class family and always had an interest in playing sports. Seeing his inclination towards sports, his father, who was a policeman, encouraged him to get into this field. From 6th standard, Sanjay started playing Hockey and represented his school in various state and national tournaments. Sanjay then decided to make his career in the same field and joined Rajasthan University to do a master's in physical education.

Talking about his mistakes, Sanjay says that mistakes keep happening in life. He says that not giving proper attention to his studies was a mistake as later in life when he started giving competitive examinations, he again had to brush up his skills in the subjects like mathematics and reasoning, which he earlier did not pay much heed.

Talking about his inspirations, Sanjay says that his coach, Bhupinder Singh Dhillon, is the one for him. He was an active and charming person and had an enthusiastic personality which always inspired Sanjay a lot.

When asked about his success mantra, Sanjay says that whatever we do, we should do it with dedication and try to fulfill our dreams.

Advising the aspirants to the sports field, Sanjay says that to come into this field one should complete their education and at least do a masters in the physical education field. Also, to clear the competitive examinations in this field, one should practice math and reasoning subjects as well.

In his free time, Sanjay likes drawing and is also writing a book on physical education.
