Sanjay Bhagtani is the Councilor of ward number 44 in Udaipur Nagar Nigam. It’s been a year and a half since he acquired the post of councilor and has devotedly worked for society since then.
Sanjay became a councilor in 2019, but the desire for social service has been in his blood since childhood. He has been working for society from the age of sixteen, either through youth organizations, or panchayats, etc. Initially, he formed a Pratapnagar Sindhi Sansthan on his own by making a slip and distributing it door-to-door. Gradually many joined in his mission and developed a Youth Organization. Through this organization, they conducted and executed all the social functions responsibly. He feels grateful to all those people who supported him, trusted him as the organization President, and worked as a family.
For the last twenty-five years, Sanjay has been working in politics with the Congress party. Through his services, he has tried to ease out people’s problems. Considering his fantastic contributions, the Congress party has supported him to contest in various elections. He has been the President of Shahar Zila Rajiv Cricket Committee. He had contested for elections in 2009, when he lost, however, he won after a decade with the support of the party and love of the people. Sanjay has been a socially-aware and sensitive being since childhood. He feels that one needs to contribute in some form to society along with fulfilling other responsibilities.
While working in organizations and committees, there have been times when he has faced resistance, obstacles, and colliding points of view. However, he aimed to work as a family and grow nonetheless. He believes in fighting the failures and negativity with confidence.
Being a fearless leader, he fought the corona pandemic with courage. Sanjay, along with his team, distributed food packets, medicines, and provided for the transportation of the poor farmers and other underprivileged people. He initiated the “Ek Paratha Program” to source one paratha from each household in his ward for the needy. His program was a hit as everyone contributed with more than one per meal. He feels satisfied and content with his tremendous efforts during the pandemic.
Sanjay feels that it is the time of the youth. The youth has immense power to bring about a change in society, contribute to the nation’s politics, keep their nation/state/city clean and crime-free, they just have to look out of their mobile phones into the real world. He believes that an amalgamation of the guidance of the elderly and the strength of youth can construct a well-structured society. Therefore, he appeals to all the youngsters to speak up for the real matters in the real world. He insists they take action practically. He feels that the youth of Udaipur aren't aware or bothered to speak about the issues of their beautiful city of lakes.
The life mantra he follows is “Satyamev Jayate”. He feels that honesty can lead to success, not quickly but eventually. Sanjay has lived his struggles with complete honesty and with the support of his wife. Though his family and wife didn’t want him to go into politics, the motivation and dream of his well-wishers and team made it possible.
Lastly, Sanjay advises the youth to contribute to society in some form, pursue and develop an interest in politics, and speak up for the wrongs outside the social media world.
